3 stars because this was hot, yes. Great intrigue, yes. But, l have never understood how two people can fall so deeply in love without ever speaking to one another. Ugh.

I've had this series on my wish list for a long time and with no other follow-up books to read, I bit the bullet and purchased it. I do think the $10 price tag for the e-book is a little steep especially since it's a series. The book itself is a fun and intriguing read. While somewhat frustrated with characters' flaws, the irritation shows the story pulls you in.

This felt a little long, but in saying that, I loved every long minute. Suspense, drama, romance and dominance. Who could want more?

Ugh. I have enjoyed other books by Shayla Black both as a solo writer and in conjunction with another author. This is so far off the mark, I could not finish it. The female lead Morgan came off as a prude but not, as a sex-positive woman in career and attitude, but not. She seemed frigid and I wondered if she was a virgin by some of her thoughts and reactions, but she clearly wasn't. I admit, I couldn't get past the 1st hour of listening to the audiobook. #Quitter

What relistening to this book has taught me, is to not trust any of the my high ratings I gave books when I was a young romance reader.

Now that I am in my 20s, and going back to re-read the books I read when i was a teen, wide-eyed romance reader, I find that these books are not so good ...

Loved it!

Ok so I think that this story lost a lot for me by listening to it on audio. I struggled to force myself to listen to this story. It came across as completely absurd while listening to it and I found myself rolling my eyes more often than not, especially since most of the story is just sex, sex, and more sex.

The plot is barely held together and while the two main characters were hot together that's about all they had going for them. The whole thing bugged me. I think if I'd read this instead of listened to it it wouldn't have been quite so painful as reading would have gone by a whole hell of a lot faster and skimming sex scenes that become monotonous and silly is easier.

Overall I just shuddered every time I knew I had to continue listening to it. But I still wanted to finish the story. I'd give it 2.5 stars but I'm rounding down since the plot really doesn't work at all.
emotional medium-paced

Real score 3.5. Maybe less. I was reading this to see how my book compared. I have come to the conclusion that I like the illustrated cover books better than realistic cover books. I’m not sure if that means anything to anyone. Also, all along I had a completely different idea of the identity of the bad guy and I sort of wish it had ended up that way. This review says absolutely nothing to anyone else. So be it.

Loved this book, one of the first books I have read concerning BDSM. It shatters myths about the culture and ensnare you within this new world. It's been a while since I've read it so details are rusty, but definitely ended up in me searching out other books dealing with this world.
