It didt have a fairy tale ending, thats not to say the ending wasn't happy, it just wasn't the typical hea. What a refreshing way to end a book. He non happy, happy ending definitely made this book for me.

Leslie has been looking for her tattoo for months. Now she is ready, but none of them call to her. She wants a special tattoo. One made just for her to signify her changing her life. When the tattooist Rabbit invites her to look at his private books in the back, she finds just the one; Wings and eyes perfect for the center of her back. Little does she know that it will link her to the king of the dark fairies. Changes happen, but not what Leslie had in mind. Instead of the Independence she craves, she gets slavery of sorts. Can Leslie take back her life? Is she strong enough? Or will she be just another plaything for the dark court?

I badly want to love these books. I'm enchanted with the richness of the overlapping worlds. I enjoy the idea these books are based upon.
However, I felt let down after each book in this series. Perhaps it's the imaginative description of the surroundings, whether luxurious and vibrant, or dark and depressed, that leaves all the characters seeming so empty. Leslie, at least, has more personality than Ash, but there's still little to make her interesting as a character. I don't feel I can relate, nor do I want to, to any character at all. They all feel stunted, one-dimensional and emotionless, which is funny since this book is all about emotion.
I kept comparing the similarities between this and Wicked Lovely. Very similar stories in that the scared girl encounters the faerie world, is pursued by a regent but is in love with another guy. Even the different endings are similar. It's like the second-try of the first book.
I'm left wondering if Ms. Marr is just too nice? Dreamy, romantic and completely sweet? Her "bad" characters, the ones who are explored, are never really bad. The worst characters in this particular book are completely overlooked and the reader just has to know they're awful, horrible people...so awful, in fact, they can't even be looked-at.
I'll keep reading Marr's books because I really do enjoy the environment and I will continue to hope the characters progress and eventually become solid.

I thought this was a more interesting story than Wicked Lovely, but the last third of the book made the rest of the story pretty pointless. Plus there's a character whose name looks a whole lot like "Banana".

I don't get the complete lack of character development in these books. There are so few descriptions of the characters that I really don't know what any of them look like. As for the fae, I have no idea what many of them look like with or without their glamour.

I don't know how Melissa Marr does it, but somehow she write 300+ page books that tell you nothing about the characters or why they do the things they do.

I almost DNF.ed this book in the middle. This book not as good as the first in the series. There're phrase that didn't have an explanation like Bananach, Gancanagh, Hound or everything.
After Leslie and Irial together, I didn't find it lovely. I think she's better with Niall. But then, in the last chapter before epilogue, Leslie finally used her brain and finally freed her self from Irial. In the epilogue tho,  there's an open ending. Well.. let's we found out what happen next in the third book.

Its been awhile since I've read Wicked Lovely (book 1) but I was surprised by the outcome of this book.

Again, the faeries in this book creep the hell out of me and like i said in my review for book 1, if I ever encounter one, i'll be running the other way, very very fast.

Surprisingly though this book did not center around the fey as much as the first book did. Instead, it centered on 3 characters. Leslie, Niall, and Irial. Poor Leslie has been fighting demons for awhile and she's gone to get a tattoo in hopes to become a 'new' person. Obviously she's getting more than she asked for. Niall is a fey... and sorry to say, he bores me. I didn't care for him one bit. Irial though on the other hand fascinated me and I wish there was a bit more characterization on him.

I hate books with love triangles. It just reminds me of Twilight. And since I liked Irial, I dreaded finding out what her choice would be. But after reading the last chapter and the epilogue, I felt much better. Loved the ending. Kudos to Melissa Marr. Glad I met her briefly at a signing a couple years ago.

I plan to continue the series.

Oh this book... To me this isn't my favourite within the Wicked Lovely Series, it's right inBetween a really good start and a fantastic book 3. But honestly when reading it another time and getting round the 2/3's through the book (with music) I really started to enjoy it. Yes it is really really slow moving in the beginning but it still is a good story in the whole magical and mystery fairy world. Now onto book 3!

I enjoyed this continuation of the Wicked Lovely cast... I just didn't enjoy it quite as much. I felt like in the first book, the author made the world of the Summer and Winter fey very clear. In this one, I still had a lot of questions about the Dark Court. They feed on emotions... and they needed Leslie to help with that... but how did they survive before Leslie? How will they survive after, with Niall as king and no Leslie? I felt like in the first book, all the pieces came together; here, I felt like I had to shove and squeeze a little bit.

I am, however, still very interested in these characters and this world, and I will be starting book 3 tonight!

The past year of Leslie's life has been terrible. Her mother ran out on her family, her dad drowns in a bottle of alcohol every day, and her brother Ren hops from one drug to another, searching for the next high.

The only thing Leslie looks forward to is the tattoo she hopes to get and the marking it will give her body - that it's hers. What she doesn't know is the tattoo has it's own way of making her body a prisoner.

A different twist from Wicked Lovely, still weaves the fey world with the realistic world and Leslie is a sympathetic character.
