I finally got to read it. I've waited almost a year for this book, and I finished it in one day. AMAZING. This series is already one of my all time favorite series. I think that the problem with most dystopian type books are that they're not realistic enough, they're too advanced and generic.
This one is real. It's gritty. It's emotional.
The reality is, mankind is in an endless hunt for youth. In this world, they sure as heck got it. They played around with our DNA way too much and a virus spread that only lets men live to age 25 and women to age 20 before their bodies basically decompose.
So the old people leftover from before are generally rich and haunted by their children's deaths.
This book picks up right in the middle of where the first one leaves off. Gabriel and Rhine are escaping. The reality is that they get themselves into an even bigger mess.
I honestly feel like the adventure never ends in this book. There's constantly a new problem and old problems are always there.
I highly suggest this series.
I cannot WAIT for the third and final chapter of this wonderful series.

Wasn't sure how to rate this one at first, it's been a long time since I read book1. I was thinking yeah this is pretty good and then the end happened, and I became really really invested plus I felt my anxiety rising when Rhine was suffering through such horrors (real and hallucinated) it was creepy as anything. So...5. Stars for the last several chapters for sure!
Great sequel, a couple of plot twists definitely surprised me. DeStefano keeps up the great storytelling she started in Wither and I'm looking forward to reading the trilogy's conclusion.

No lo lei completo porque este aún fue peor, esperaba que al menos mejorara un poco, pero no, al contrario, empeoro todo.
I don't know too many things about writing. However, I do know that I was so engrossed in Fever that I almost missed my train stop. Another reason it was so addicting is that I kept waiting for something more to happen. I am really hoping that this was a setup for #3!!
Well, that was spectacularly creepy. And now I have to wait until the next book in the series is released. WAITING IS HARD.
Slightly more world building in this sequel which starts to open up as the book goes on.
I'll admit I was slightly frustrated during the first 100 or so pages; Rhine is finally free of the mansion only to be captured by a more insidious group almost immediately.
To me this book very much fell into the trap of middle-book-in-a-series with all the action beginning to unfold in the last 80 or so pages. I did start to feel rather distant from the characters I so loved in the first book.
However, I will say I am intrigued to see how the story ends and will continue onto the final book.

3.5 stars. I'm hoping this isn't one of those series that really doesn't need to be a trilogy. I'll probably start the last one tomorrow.

Pretty decent, the stakes are a lot higher now for the characters. Easy read.
