“I see you getting things you don’t deserve, living it up. It fucking sucks. I feel resentful because I deserve it more than you do. I could be a better you.”

5 stars. I have yet to be disappointed by this woman's writing and storytelling. She seriously knocks it out of the ballpark every single time. Even though I absolutely loved this, I don't know how to process what I just read. The ending was a bit trippy and definitely made me "wtf?" but it made sense in it's own messed up way. I think.

One thing I do know for sure is that this is my second favorite book by Tarryn Fisher after Mud Vein. That's how much I loved this one.

Tarryn Fisher has a knack for messed up characters and I think the ones in this book were the absolute worst. In a good way of course. I could go on and on all damn day about how much I love her writing but I honestly say it every time I review a book by her but just know that I really do. She did a great job with the pacing and the plot was intriguing and full of twists and turns and the characters felt entirely too real at times. I also liked that it's split into three parts and three p.o.v's. It made the story feel more complete in the end to me.

Sidenote, she also managed to sneak in a Harry Potter reference amongst all of the madness. If that's not talent I don't know what the hell is!

I really don't want to get too much into characters because I don't want to spoil anything at all but just know that when it was all said and done, I didn't hate Fig. I'm not sure what that says about me as a person but I'm just being honest. I wasn't rooting for her or anything but I didn't hate her. I guess pity is the right word for it.

While I did like Jolene she was a bit of an naive airhead at times. I understood where she was coming from absolutely but damn, how many warning signs do you need, girl?? I think she came together as a character for me at the end but I was definitely rooting for her because everything was just so messed up.

Overall, if you like really messed up characters then this book is for you. It's a wild ride from beginning to end.

Well, a friend loaned me Bad Mommy, and what a mind-f*** that was! When I was done, I had no idea what I had just read, but I gave it 5 stars! Ha! Seriously, Tarryn is genius at psychological suspense. I'd suggest going into this one blind- reading the blurb is fine, but don't read any reviews that might spoil any of the story. It's best revealed as you read.

Wow.. I cannot even believe this book. Tarryn Fisher has to be a little twisted to pull off this kind of writing. How she is able to create the most f'd up character that you still can't help but kind of like, I will never know. Fig is batshit crazy, totally out there. She is convinced that she deserves Jolene's husband, daughter, and life. She befriends the family and works her own agenda with each one of them separately. Bad Mommy is split into three parts, with each part being the first person pov of one of the three main characters. Each part gives you different viewpoints of the crazy. I know that every time I read one of Fisher's books, I'm in for a surprise and Bad Mommy is one of her best yet.

Batshit crazy. That's how I would describe the first half of this book, because it's nothing less than that.

My only complaint is that it didn't get quite crazy enough in the end. The POVs got all tangled up and it was messy.

That ending? Wtf was that.

Overall, 3 stars. (5 for Tarryn's writing, though, because she's incredible.)

Tarryn Fisher did it again. A fascinating, terrifying read. She speaks from her heart. Her experience. She pours herself onto the page, spills her raw truths with such intensity, and with such love. While this wasn't as emotionally heavy as her other novels, it was mind bending, and intense, and spoke the terrifying truth of a Sociopath and a Psychopath and betrayal so cutting, it'll make you want to hit someone. No one could have done it better.
We PLN's love you and your heart, Tarryn.
This book was phenomenal. Each one gets better and better.
This one is up with my favorites, right below Mud Vein

What the WHATTTTT

So many unanswered questions! First being, where the heck is Fig getting all her moolah from?! But really, this was a good one. Super twisted just the way I like.
