I had this on my TBR for over 6 months and finally picked it up to read. I had been so excited but as months went on and I kept picking up other books, I forgot what this one was about and went into it blind. It did take me a while to read but that’s because I had other things going on in my life so I couldn’t find time to finish it.
I was surprised it was high school based and had to keep reminding myself that Liz was in high school because she was VERY annoying at times, but her immaturity was justified when I remembered she’s in high school!
Wes was a sweetie. Michael was boring. Joss seemed cool!
I’m glad Helena and Liz became close and that Liz finally came to the realisation she needed to live life for herself, not her deceased mother. Liz definitely needs to communicate better because lots of things could have been cleared up if she had been honest with everyone from the start. I felt for her when Joss kept shooting her down but at the same time, I would have done exactly the same thing if my friend was acting the way Liz was.
Loved the second half more than the first half but definitely 5 stars. “Enemies to lovers— it’s our trope, Buxbaum” ❤️

This was cute. Very YA, very predictable, and with all the usual tropes. It's not the kind of book I'm into, but that's not the book's fault. Surprisingly, for how rom-commy it was, it was not cringey. It was kind of like watching any middle-of-the-road romcom and was actually quite cute. I kind of am in love with Wes a little bit myself. 4 stars but only if you enjoy light reads for the actual frivolous bits. Plot value is non existent, the enjoyment comes from the dialogue and cute characters.

I liked this book but just wanted to shake the mc at times. Typical lack of communication issues and denial.
