I loved Gabe and Virginia. Their story started out full of tragedy and remorse and ended up so happy. I adored that we FINALLY found out the truth about Roger and how Gabe became the Angel of Death, and that he finally put it behind him! Loved the challenge he issues to Cecila. I cannot wait for her and Pinter's story! Also, I adored the budding relationship between Hetty and Isaac. I adore Sabrina Jeffries and cannot wait for the next book!

Another excellent entry in Jeffries Hellions of Halstead Hall series. I was extremely curious about Gabriel and Virginia after the previous book, when Virginia challenged Gabriel to a race. Although the story took a turn I didn't expect, it was engaging and entertaining.

I really am enjoying this series by Sabrina Jeffries. I really liked the characters in this book. The hero and heroine where well suited and so much fun to read. I also liked the dramatic problem the couple faced. I have a soft spot for series that deal with siblings...but who am I kidding I love interconnecting series and this one is great about having the characters make multiple appearances.

4.5/5 stars!

Gabe Sharpe, one of the Hellions of Halsted, knows that he is a hellion. In fact, since his best friend was killed in a race between the two of them, Gabe has been nicknamed "the Angel of Death." But he's felt nothing but guilt since that time, hiding it behind ever-increasingly daredevil stunts. Of course, he's also found that he can make money from betting on himself since he can't seem to die. His grandmother has recently imposed the edict that all of his siblings must marry before the end of the year or they will not inherit her substantial estate. Three of his siblings have married and Gabe is hoping that, if he marries, his grandmother might be satisfied enough to leave his youngest sister, Celia, to find her own true love, in her own time.
So, he's decided to marry his best friend's sister. Who hates him. And blames him for her brother's death. In fact, the only thing she wants from him is to race him herself. He agrees, stating that, if he wins, he would get the chance to court her. Of course, this is a romance novel, so there's the requisite tension. The story of who really killed the Sharpe's parents is a continuing theme in all of these books and continues here.
I liked this book so much better than the second and third in this series. Jeffries is really back on her game and this is a return to the spectacular beginning with which she started out this series.

This was refreshing read after the last two books, in which the H and h get along too easily too soon. With their initial meeting and Virginia's challenge to Gabe in [b:How to Woo a Reluctant Lady|8192917|How to Woo a Reluctant Lady (Hellions of Halstead Hall, #3)|Sabrina Jeffries|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1282320795l/8192917._SY75_.jpg|26220567], the tension was instant and I couldn't wait to gobble up their story. Virginia is an understandably frustrated heroine and her blame of Gabe at her late brother's death makes sense, as does her incredulity that Gabe would want to marry her after everything that happened in the past. Gabriel on the other hand is a tortured soul who blames himself for what happened, despite not actually knowing what happened. Their growth in learning to be kind to each other and to eventually love each other twisted my heart and made my belly flip. Gabriel's internal dialogue is just to die for and reading it over still makes me sigh.

There is a bit of a bonus introduction here to another peripheral love story that I was very happy for. Not to mention that continued tension between Jackson and Celia prior to their standalone book next.

4.5/5

Hetty Plumtree is still trying to marry off all 5 of her grandchildren, she has succeeded with 3 of them now Gabriel is up and his heart is the most reckless and already on close terms with death, is she cannot get him to fall in love and forgive himself for the death of his best friend she is not sure if she can save him. This time though she mayhap gets caught in her own trap.
Lord Gabriel Sharpe, the Angel Death as he is known the racing circles, knows he must get married so that is youngest sister will be forced to marry or blame only herself for the lost of her inheritance. Her knows how stubborn she is, and right now her dug her heels in on getting married. He also the woman that he will convince to be his bride. Miss Virginia Waverly is the sister of his best friend, the one he killed in a race 7 years ago. He will convince her that without him her options are not great living on a farm she will not inherit because of the death of her brother it will transfer to her cousin, a bigger rakehell than Gabe's oldest brother. He does except to fall in love with the beautiful young miss, but after winning a race against her to win the right to court her and to hear her concern for her safety how can not fall under her spell?
Miss Virginia Waverly had other plans, she mad at Lord Gabriel for defying death every opportunity and taking the name Angel of Death. He should have pulled up during the race with her brother, he should not have godded her brother into the race knowing how drunk he was, he should have died - no, she always kept that thought at bay. neither of should have been threading the needle that day, both should should be alive. So she challgenes him to race the same course, and if she won he was to admit to killing her brother and stop using the name Angel of Death. The only way to get him to accept her challage is race home in a tamer course, if shevwinsvthebthreadbthe needle, if he win - the only downside, or is it? - he gets to court her and try to win her hand.
As with all Ms. Jeffries books, this story fun of regency fun, and a spitfire heroine who gives her hero a run for his money, or his heart. This time in Miss Waverly's grandfather, Cornel Waverly, Hetty finds a man that wakes her senses like none since her late husband. All around Good read, must have you are reading the Hellionsnof Halstead Hall, if not, a great book by itself.

3.5
this might be my favourite so far but it's still not quite a 4 star. Her books are overall enjoyable and I'm loving the mystery that's woven throughout the book's storyline. I just wish her Heros didn't all follow the same blueprint. I swear it's like reading about the same man in all 4 books. They all act exactly the same and have the same aversion to love and don't admit they love the character until the last 20 pages. It's getting old. I hope the last book doesn't do this bc we know Pinter has been pinning over Celia for a while. Book 5 is the one I've been most looking forward to.

It was okay. The only reason I finished it was because it is book 4 of a 5 book series and I am curious to know how it ends.
