This was a pretty fun read and perfect for October! I loved all the descriptions and the language, although a product of its time, was so poetic!

A classic of American Gothic literature, Washington Irving's "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" is an amusing romp, and a spine-tingler at the same time. Irving lulls the reader into a false sense of security, choosing to focus on Ichabod Crane's life and love for nature in true Romantic style, only to turn that nature against him and the audience in a macabre fashion, making it come to life as a haunted specter of imaginative horror.
