This was a really unique read for me.
It was quirky, funny when it really shouldn't have been and at some points frustrating until you remember that it was written in 1954 so those things were normal and acceptable back then.

Being a old book, I thought I would have a hard time keeping up with the language, but honestly, it was easier than some modern books I've read in the past.

The characters were all so vastly different and.. again.. quirky/weird, that it was fascinating to read their separate interactions. I am a huge fan of dystopian/pandemic books and this was not that, but also it really felt like it was. It was just a book about villagers getting by in 1954 and dealing with an outbreak of something but lord was it an odd read.

I think this book is definitely underrated, and I highly recommend it.

I don't agree with the people that have rated this book really low for the fact that it has some problematic views that where NORMAL during that time. It wasn't a problematic author, it was the generation. Doesn't change that the book was good and even fun at times.
