Amazing!!! A really funny read with a cute moral.

I love good twists on folk tales (like Goldie by Diane Stanley or Three Pigs by David Weisner), and this one definitely works. Of course, I also love anything Mo Willems does, so I may be biased.

Looking forward to reading this one again with my little one in a few years.

It's Mo Willems. What more do you need to know? :)

Maybe a little bit of a cheat but since I've read it roughly 50 times in the last 2 weeks I don't care. I love Mo Willems' work - he's funny, simple and smart. This story takes a traditional tale and turns it on its ear.

A terribly terriffic and timely retelling. --Monty K.

Part of a huge Mo Willems bender we’ve been on with Sofia. She originally rejected it because “it’s supposed to be BEARS” but then thought it was hilarious. “If you ever find yourself in the wrong story, leave.”

I really like this. I feel it is a little too long and too sarcastic for storytime but great for a solo read.

I’m not a huge Mo Willems fan but this is probably my favorite of his books so far. I usually like fractured fairy tales better than the originals and this one had enough funny moments without being totally in your face and try hard (how most Willems books come across to me). The illustration style is still not my favorite, but overall the silliness of the story makes up for it. Of course my kids enjoyed it, since Willems tends to go over well with them (and most kids). Just not overall appealing to me as an adult.

I'm not letting myself off easy by counting picture books towards my goal of 100 books read this year, but... I read this. I read it to my son. And then I wrote a really in-depth review about it for my children's lit class. So I say it counts for something!
