An engrossing book. I couldn’t put it down and got completely immersed in the story. The story includes unique character dynamics that really drew me in. The female protagonist is somewhat immature, which can be a bit stressful while reading, but the hero is so wonderful that he more than makes up for it. My only issue is that I feel the author had the best story in her hands but didn’t know how to end it. The ending was very mundane, and huge problems were resolved far too quickly. The conclusion of the story was disappointing.

I really liked this book, it was so wholesome and cute and my heart ached for both of them simultaneously and separately.
Reading about 2 people with troubled past finding peace within each other was so goddamn cute, I understand why everyone raves about this book.
It wasn’t life changing by any means but it’s certainly one I’m going to be thinking about for a while

I really did enjoy this book but it just felt so done before, it actually gave me Colleen Hoover vibes just less cringy.
It’s really a trauma bond romance, and boy is there a lot of trauma. Bree is running away from all the memories of her and her father when they were happy and ends up in Pelion, Maine an idyllic coastal town. Where she meets the local mute recluse who can’t talk due to childhood injuries and stays away from the townspeople because he was mostly raised by an untreated paranoid schizophrenic uncle after losing every other family member in his life in tragic circumstances.
While this book had really cute parts — like Archer leaving his gate open as a sign for Bree to come over, the vibes of a local coastal town, and some really lovely side characters like Maggie and Norm. It also had some pretty problematic (for me) toxic romance. Bree and Archer are both HEAVILY damaged and yet they form this codependent bond where they have to be around each other like all the time, and while the author attempted to resolve this it always just felt like insta love but obsessive. I have no idea how much time is supposed to have passed but they went from strangers to essentially fused together in the span of 2 months ish and that was a A LOT.
Also I have mad problems with the fact that every issue they had was solved in the matter of pages — leaving the reader no chance to truly feel that angst, it felt useless to keep introducing issues and then IMMEDIATELY solving them. And don’t even get me started on the ridiculous end of the book, ridiculous in how quick it got crazy and resolved like one page and it was WILD and then chill. Like emotional whiplash.
However this is a fast read and it’s decently well written and had a lot of cute parts, I just couldn’t give it full stars for the problems I saw in it.

This was such a beautiful story. I can see why it has such great reviews, and so many people recommend it.
Yes this was 100% a love story, but it was so much more than that. The love in this book brought such a strong feeling of hope out of the main characters. Hope for a better future than they ever imagined, hope that they could overcome their trauma, hope that there was someone in the world that was meant to stand by them through everything.
There were so many quotable lines that I felt the need to bookmark and return to later and read again.
In terms of plot, it did feel like it got a little crazy towards the end and then everything just seemed to wrap up quickly so that would be my one negative, but honestly I barely care because I think the purpose of this book was more about how it made you feel emotionally in my opinion.
Overall a beautiful read that I won’t forget about anytime soon

This book is rated really high and I cannot figure out why at all. The story was not impressive. The writing wasn’t great and I get where the author was going with this but I felt like it was just boring and honestly just silly. It wasn’t bad enough for me to DNF but it was not my cup of tea. It was a strange mixture of super serious traumatic, cutesy cheesy romance and then huge doses of spice sprinkled in.
