Fantastic worldbuilding but the plot felt a tad aimless

It was a little less interesting than the other two books, but no less plot building. It's been a while since I've read, but I think I still remember some key things that annoyed/confused me. Why on earth was Will falling for that tree girl? Like he was literally in the Mirrorworld in order to save Claire, but for some reason he was looking at Ms. Bark over there. There was absolutely no chemistry and when the author tried to force it, it didn't even feel like Will anymore. I did love how the goyle Will was traveling with saw him as a puppy (as he should), and I also enjoyed the twist with the alder elves and Will's birthparents. I was just as shocked/abhorred as Jacob. Somebody give this man a break from horrible father-figures. Also, I hope Jacob's father dies horribly. What a piece of trash.

I think the elves were kinda confusimg, like we know nothing about them. and I think the next book will do something about that, but this one was a little slow. We were basically just following Jacob who was following Will who was following the Dark One (I don't know what she's called im English ^^) and we just didn't get anywhere. I'm glad Fox and Jacob finally gave in because that was just annoying from the start.

Something is always happening. And one thing always leads to another, making it feel like an endless adventure.

I'm not sure how I feel about this book yet, the ending is very anticlimatic since the journey is far from finished. I mean, there is a closure to the arc of this book, butit still feels that it's just the beginning.

It is very well written, the rythm is constant but I did feel a little bit lost in time or rather distance since I never went out to check the map to see how far each country really is from each other and it was like 'pop' we're here and next page we're in a completely different place (my bad on that, I know).

Also I think some parts don't flow as well as others, like the moment Flux joins Orlando to gather some intel about their target, I know that it was necessary for a character development but it was kind of rushed.

Overall I give this book a 3.5 I can't wait to read the next one.
