After reading it a second time, I really quite like the story, but I still I have questions I don't think I'll get the answer to. The characters are ok, but I think if we got to know them better they could be great. It's hard to connect with the characters when I don't know them and even though this first volume was a bit messy in my opinion I'm sticking around for vol. 2 in the hope of understanding the characters a lot better and simply because the story is really interesting. I really want to know what happened to Ami's family and what non-punkers think of her.

The reason I gave it three stars was partly because it felt as if the comic tried to sound very wise and deep with lines like
There are corridors between us. All of us. All those things we leave unsaid. All those things that we assume of each other-- about each other...
and I don't think it fits the story or the character. This girl seems like someone who would rather hang out with the pilots and listen to music than think about life 'n stuff. Especially say such things while telling how a house trapped her, kept her away from her friends and lied to her. If they went all-in on the horror/action and adventure genre and did not try to be so wise I think it would be a lot more fun to read.

I don't understand why there exist so many bad reviews of this first volume considering both myself and my husband took the time to read it and thoroughly enjoyed this first installment. Sure, it suffers from some of the same issues any comic with angst-ridden teenagers has in it, but so far, it's compelling and the "gimmick" toward the back end of this volume is interesting to the point where I'll probably actively seek out future volumes.

This graphic novel was spooky fun and it was easy read also it was slow paced. The art work was great and the cover was stunning. The Charachers needed be more flash out.

The cover art really drew me to this book, and I was not disappointed by the artwork throughout. The colours are fantastic, with a lot of retro inspiration. The colour schemes were great at matching the kind of creepy atmosphere of the story, too.
The idea of a horror graphic novel/comic is super appealing to me, and while this wasn't exactly 'scary', it had a nice eeriness to it. Ami as a character intrigued me, and the haunted house is practically its own character, too, which is interesting. I wasn't expecting the government involvement aspect, and I'm not sure how much I love it, but it would be interesting to see where that goes.
I've seen a lot of mixed reviews on this and although it didn't stand out as overly special to me, I enjoyed it and didn't have any major problems with it. The art was lovely, and I loved the uniqueness of the haunted house and the ghosts/creatures. 4 stars!
