Why did I choose to read a book that I knew would emotionally destroy me? I don’t know, maybe there’s something wrong with my brain. Maybe I just wanted to read a good romance after finishing The Selection series. The world may never know. Anyways, I very rarely am in the mood for a romance novel, but I was and I absolutely devoured this book. I listened to the audiobook in like a day and a half and it was really really good. It was pretty intense and dark at times, I would definitely recommend looking up the trigger warnings before reading this book, but I just felt so emotionally invested in this book. When Lily and Ryle first met, I was in awe because they seemed so perfect for each other. But then things went wrong and I wanted to believe that they could stay together and work it out but I knew that wouldn’t happen. Basically by the end I was just really sad, the epilogue did kinda give it a happy ending though. Also I took a time lapse of me listening the last hour and a half of this book and you can just see me slowly fall apart, it’s really sad. Anyways, I want to get back to my ya fantasy books now, thanks.

When I first started reading this book, I couldn’t stop. My first impression was a good one, but as the book went on, I got a bit weirded out. I guess you could say the storyline is interesting, but I don’t understand why people like to romanticise this book. All of the main things that happened were definitely not okay. Obviously the plot between Atlas and Lily was cute, however he was 18 when he met Lily. She was 15 at the time.
And he clearly knew that she was 15. I’m not saying he’s a pedo, but there was no need to make him 3 years older than her. Also, Ryle aggravating Lily wasn’t something that I expected.

Overall, the main story wasn’t that bad. I guess Colleen Hover wanted to give out an important message, about domestic violence, which is totally good. There are just some details that don’t sit right with me and, in my opinion, weren’t quite necessary.
