Hannah Troyer knows that something is amiss in the Amish village. The manager of the Cat’s Meow yarn shop has been disappearing and acting strangely for days. Then when Owen Esch is found murdered, the ladies of the village begin investigating with the hope of restoring peace back to their community.

I enjoyed the book; however, the pace was a bit slow for a cozy mystery. It is a very dense book. I wish that the story had moved a long a bit faster. I enjoyed the overall message of the book. I am looking forward to reading the next installment in the series.

i didn't realize this was a series. also, there's hardly any knitting involved.

I really liked this book. great series, great setting, interesting characters, very interesting murder. Definitely reading book 3 ...

Interesting Mystery.

If you're like me and you sometimes think (for a millisecond or two) about trying to solve one of those "Unsolved Mysteries" or "Disappeared" cases on your own, then you're going to love these books!

One thing I enjoyed so much about Murder Simply Brewed was the friendships between the Englisch (non-Amish) and the Amish residents of the area. It's even better in Murder Tightly Knit since these relationships are much more established after the events in book one. A wonderful reminder that we don't have to remain isolated from each other simply because we worship differently.

I just love these characters, and I am happy to say that unless they were killed off or arrested in book one they are all back in Murder Tightly Knit :) Elizabeth, Amber's secretary, gets a little more page time in this book, as does formerly homeless veteran Preston, and I could not be happier! Also Amber's new assistant manager Pam is a hoot, and these three make excellent additions to the "regular cast" that we met in Murder Simply Brewed.

The mystery will keep you on the edge of your seat and have you second-guessing your own Sherlocky skills from beginning to end (well, at least until the point where Amber herself knows whodunit). The romance is sweet and gentle and honorable - everything that's good about love. Murder Tightly Knit is a delightfully cozy mystery that celebrates faith, friendship, and romance. The series is a must-read for any one who loves Amish novels or mysteries.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for my honest review.

This was my first 'real' amish fiction book. Aside from a few YA amish titles, (I liked one, detested the other) I have never really thought that they would be my thing, but amish + murder mystery seemed to be a bit more interesting than most amish fiction. However, that didn't end up being the case. I rounded up my rating because I don't know if perhaps it's just that this genre isn't my thing and I don't want to be unfair in this review.

I'm afraid that this book was quite boring. Now, I didn't expect this book to be a chilling thriller. I mean...it's amish fiction. But for a mystery, it wasn't even mysterious, and that was my problem.

First off, the characters. Wow, they were borrrrring. There was no personality with any of these people! Amber, Hannah, Jesse...they were very two dimensional and not very colorful as characters. They were the opposite of colorful. They were the bleakest, slush-coloured grey characters I have encountered in a long time.

The mystery...not a mystery at all, more like. First off, we get a few chapters from the murdererer's POV, so there's no question that it is not one of the main or secondary characters. Second, there are no plot twists. Zip. Zilch. It's a very straightforward plot and you can see where it's going. Not fun. The end was very anti-climactic and nothing new was revealed.

And do amish people only use Pennsylvania Dutch words that are cognates for the english translation? (I'm being sarcastic, of course, they don't.) No, so why are those the only kind that show up in this book? And why have a dictionary for them? I mean, I didn't even look at the dictionary, and I could definitely figure out that nein was no and bruder was brother. In fact, all the random sprinkling of amish phrases actually annoyed me a bit.

Murder Tightly Knit has a bit of an ironic title since the whole murder unraveled pretty easily. I don't think I'll be trying amish fiction for a very long time unless I have ran out of all other reading material.

I really liked this one. The whole series is charming and worth a read. Intriguing mystery, great characters(I want to be part of their group!) and a fun story line made this one I could not put down. Highly recommend!

Second in the Amish Village mysteries. I had gotten the first one free quite a while ago, and have also read the Shipshewana mysteries also by Vanetta Chapman. I enjoyed them, but didn't just love them. I was browsing the free Prime Reading loans at Amazon and happened across both the 2nd and 3rd in this series, so with my completion complex in high gear, I downloaded both to read. It had been a while since I had read the first, but the author did a decent job of reacquainting me with the characters, and a fair bit came back once I started reading. Set in Amish country (Middlebury Indiana), in a bustling Amish village that contains, among other things, a restaurant, coffee shop, bakery and knitting shop, we find our main characters. Amber is the overseer of the village and has a penchant for finding killers in this sleepy hamlet. A decent mystery, and I will (at some point) read the third one (Murder

These are just good easy reads. I love the Amish and Christian discussions as well as a good mystery. I was in a complete reading slump and this book (and the first in the series) is a reminder of why reading is fun and entertaining. And although God is discussed He isn't the center of the books...the characters and how they deal with life, relationships with others, and a mysterious death all while being true to their beliefs is the center.
