I'm not sure how I feel about this book. It was a little too obvious and on the nose with its political undertones. Sometimes there was too much exposition and the writing was overly flowery. Nevertheless, I was sucked in by the story.

This was not at all the book I thought I picked up. I wanted a fast paced thriller and this was a slow moving "twist" that I saw coming way too early. The writing didn't flow for me and there were moments where the author went into too great of detail describing places or things which made the story even more choppy. I wanted to stop so many times and if I didn't have a personal problem with DNFing, I would have.

This book was beautifully written, and it was not at all what I was expecting it to be when I picked it up. The ending was so different than I would have thought, devastating and hopeful, and I really enjoyed it.

I enjoyed it, but guessed the 'shocking twist' on page 14.

This reminded me of something I've read or watched before which led me to guess thee ending early on. Despite that I enjoyed the story. The sadness, struggle, support. Reading it straight through on an overnight flight didn't leave much room for it to soak in or ponder characters. I may have rushed it, missing some of the more nuanced details.

If I wasn’t reading with book club I would have given up on this. I found it very slow and thought the main character/narrator Autumn boring. Took until page 180 for the story to pick up pace and me regain interest.

Fast paced thriller this book is not. I wanted to give up on this book because of its meandering slow pace but had to find out if I was right about the twist. I was, which was disappointing in its own way because as soon as it was revealed and finally got interesting, it went back to its slow pace and started to wind down. Really wasn’t a fan and just wanted to finish the book once I read the big reveal.
