I give it 2.5 stars. I read this because Jane Austen is my favorite author and I’m usually interested in spin offs. The writing was good and the story flowed. My problem was the ridiculousness of the situation. This Jane in 2020 behaved so out of character it was hard to believe.

This book grows on you...

There is a character in the book who struggles when reading their first Jane Austin book. I had a similar experience with this book, including that of being ultimately totally absorbed by the story.

Jane is of course herself and there are a number of times when her experience in the 21st century stretches belief a little too much. The other characters are enjoyable and they go through their own life changing journeys.

An enjoyable escape.

Kept trying to get into it, but just didn't love the writing style.

Trite, cloying and full of tropes. Competently written but lacks passion and a compelling narrative. If I were Jane Austen,
I wouldn't have time traveled for this.

This book surprised me. I thought it was going to be your typical cliche romance novel with silly time travel confusion and the novelty would wear off quickly. But, as the story developed, I became more interested, and I hoped it was going somewhere different than I initially assumed. I was pleasantly surprised and found the last section of the book to be quite endearing and deeper than I thought it would be.
