Full of wit, humorous dialogue, and incisive social commentary, Pride & Prejudice is a delight to read. The plot is intriguing, the characters are memorable, and the romance is swoon-worthy. This book is a classic for a reason.

Beautifully written, full of life, humor, and warmth. This was a joy to read for the first time and I look forward to one day returning to this book. Austen’s narration and keen insight into the inner workings of each of the protagonists, especially Elizabeth, was remarkable. I feel like every single word, every adjective, was selected so carefully as to give us yet another insight into how each character views the world around them. It was hard to keep myself from underlining scores of sentences in a row, because I just got so caught up in the masterful craft of Austen’s use of the English language.

One of the things that truly impressed me was the large cast of complex and real characters; of course we have Elizabeth, Mr. Darcy, Jane, and Bingley, but it was those side characters, the ‘oddities’, that really made me fall in love with the book. Characters like Mr. and Mrs. Bennet, Mr. Collins, Miss Bingley, Lady de Bourgh all equally frustrated and amused me.

This was a comforting read and I look forward to more Austen in the future!
