A nice culmination of the mistborn series, and overall a good book that was a fairly easy read! I don't personally love how everything was concluded, but I think Sanderson made excellent decisions regardless.

The first two thirds of the book were actually quite slow (though I read it through the end of the semester so maybe I couldn't keep up as I did later) but the last third was mind blowing, I was hooked by the end.
It makes sense that Sazed ended up being god and I get that Vin and Elend had to die, since Vin wouldn't have killed herself in the process of killing Ruin otherwise. But I was hoping to see Vin and Elend have a happy ending, Sazed's comment of them being happy were they where was overall wholesome but left me wanting to hear more of them.

I love this, the series, the universe, the magic system. I laughed and I cried. Ending was, of course, beautifully done chaos. The Hero of Ages isn't who I expected, or not in the way I expected.
Above all, I love how Sanderson writes his characters. They are flawed, but they grow and change. Series spans several years and there are few bigger time jumps. Even tho he doesn't always show gradual progress of the characters, their mental state, thinking, you can always understand how they got there.

Elend has one of the best character arcs I've read. He started as an idealistic fool (and I mean that in the best way possible). He ended up as someone with authority, in a position of power. Of course, his democratic utopia failed, so he changed. But he never became cruel. He did some things Elend in the first book would rather die than do. But he always cared for the people, and stood by them, even when all hope was lost just to give them a few moments more.

I didn't expect to enjoy Marsh's POV as much as I did. It's so eerie and creepy. The way he describes horrible things with such joy and awe is amazing.
I just want to mention TenSoon. I wish we got to see more of him.

Brandon Sanderson ended this one with a bang! Literally. I am bawling my eyes out because of how good it was but also the tragedy of it! I don’t want to say too much cause I don’t want to spoil it. I’ll only say one thing DON’T FLIP THROUGH PAGES YOU WILL SPOIL AND DIE! It’s just a fact.

Onto critiques; I’ve never liked how much Sanderson used the word awesome and this one is no different. It also started out pretty slow, but it picks up and goes so hard.

That ending blew my mind. Both heartbreaking and so hopeful. I felt like the ending completely lived up to the setup from the previous two books. Some of the parts of the book were a bit slow, but overall a great final book to an incredible trilogy.

This book was a wild ride and I was here for it! I loved the story and how dramatic and chaotic it was. I’ve really grown to love these characters and this ending was a roller coaster that really fit the tone of the series. I can’t wait to continue my Cosmere adventure!

I did it. I finished Mistborn. And in the end, it's a mixed bag that highlights the best and worst parts of the series. The last one-hundred pages are cool, but before that? I found it a real slog - 600 pages of it. Things just take a long time to pick up because we spend a LOT of time with the main characters (What if I told you that one of them is imprisoned for 2/3rds of the book and we're waiting for them to break out the whole time?). And that wouldn't at all be a problem, except that there are just bits of tonal shifts in each new book. During each entry in the series, it seems like Sanderson thought 'I feel like putting a lot of narrative focus on this character' even though we didn't get much of them before. In particular I had a problem with the two main characters, one smart and one strong: one of them gets a sort of 'powerup', to the point where now they're both strong, somewhat casting away the dynamic of them looking at situations differently. So a lot of little instances of those sudden character shifts make the book feel disjointed and unplanned. And yet, the series definitely has many through lines; but I think perhaps that Sanderson started out with a big outline, and decided where he wanted to start and end. So oftentimes there are character arcs that appear or shift radically to help us get from point A to B. However, if you've been enjoying the series for the first two books, I can guarantee that the resolution will leave you fully satisfied. 7/10.
