Short review, but my basic problem with this book was that I did not care for Madeleine Hanna. In fact, I only really like Leonard. And I'm pretty sure it's because of his mental problem, that I found a character in him. The other two main characters were so bland. Anyway, that's my two cents. Don't feel like writing a full review, but in case you were wondering.

felt overly florid...first half read like the derrida courses I took as an undergrad (read: painful)...am wondering what all the amazing reviews for this book were responding to- it felt like jane austen + feminism + religious studies + DSM IV....think i can guess at what eugenides studied in college...

This was such a confusing book, but the last page made the entire read worth it even if it was written by a man.
