You'll never too old to read the chocolate box girls series. I'm almost 22 but the series still make me feel things. The series is just so heartwarming and there are lovely messages in every book.

I think Fortune Cookie is a perfect finale for the series. It was sweet how Honey is the one who reached out for Jake. The family sorted all their problems in the end. I'd like to say I'm surprised with how Greg reacted to Jake, but not really? On the contrary, i understood because i have a dad like him too. Kinda bummed Skye and Finch broke up because i like them together but it's a long distance middle school relationship so it's not really a surprised

Fortune Cookie is sort of like a companion novel, but really rounded off the Chocolate Box series! Maddie had previously told me that it was bit pointless, and I think because I had such low expectations, I ended up really enjoying it. It ties up a lot of the unresolved conflict that Honey's book should've done. I loved the fortunes that Cookie made up for the girls at the end of the series; it's the perfect final closure for a series that I started reading so many years ago!

What a lovely conclusion to this series.

In Fortune Cookie, we follow Jake Cooke, who lives with his mum and two sisters in a flat above a Chinese restaurant. When things go disastrously wrong and the restaurant gets flooded, Jake can’t help but feel it’s his fault. He’s always been trouble. So when he finds out that he’s the half brother of the Tanberry sisters, he heads to Somerset to find a way to contact his rich dad to pay for the restaurant repairs. But has. Cookie bitten off more than he can chew?

It was fun to dive back in with these characters. As always I absolutely loved Tanglewood. It’s just such a beautiful and atmospheric place.

Cookie definitely wasn’t my favourite character. He just didn’t think things through at all. But ultimately I did like his character arc.

I think that Honey has grown the most throughout the series. She started off as being mean to everyone, eventually tolerating Paddy, trying to get her act together and finally making up with Cherry.

I think the plot may have been the slowest part. In all honesty, not much happened. It was mostly Cookie trying to get in touch with his dad. I did however really enjoy the TV show on the Tanberrys. All the talk of chocolate made me hungry!

All in all, a solid conclusion to the series. I’m not really in the age range for this series anymore so I was a little bored by the simplistic storyline. If it wasn’t middle grade I would’ve given it two stars, but for the genre it’s a three to me.

I must admit the surprise half-brother at the end of last book left me feeling a little nonplussed.
Then, the idea of having the final book narrated by a boy in such a girly series made me go all skeptical.
In one word: I had my doubts about Fortune Cookie.

But Cathy Cassidy's magic worked again! She created a whole universe and endearing backstory for Cookie and after reading the whole book, I feel like he's always been a part of this family. I was also wondering how she'd find a boy name that would go along with the others (let me remind you the girls are named Honey, Cherry, Summer, Skye and Coco, lol) but she found a pretty clever way to bypass that and I like it quite a lot!

The story was cute and lively as always, old conflicts were addressed/resolved and all in all, I don't see how the last book in such an adorable series could have been better.

I will miss the Chocolate Box Girls for sure, but it was time to end it, and I'm so glad it won't be dragged forever like some other series *cough*PLL*cough*.

Did I really fucking cry over my childhood series? YES!

After reading and finishing for the second time, this time was so different, it made me feel all the nostalgia and all the feels. It was a nice wrap up to the story, honey and cherry became friends, cookie gained a huge family and Greg is no longer seen as the hero he is.

It’s just everything.
I love it all and I’m so sad to see it end
