Highly enjoyed the first two-thirds of the story but the last 100 pages were a struggle and I didn’t want to read them so I’m not going to.

Okay, Piper got me. I was totally expecting this to go a different way. And the twist was good I didn't see it coming and it made sense - not just shoe horned in. So the concept was A+, the writing style was solid, but I'm not sure I liked the follow through on this one. I wanted the author to explore all the different themes that she had set up. But that would have been a much longer book.

No one does third acts or monster design quite like Hailey Piper.

I'm having a hard time rating this one. It's weird. I loved the horror gore of it. The writing was a bit flowery at times and often had me confused. I almost DNF'd it many times

I don't know, man. I'll be thinking about it for a while

I completely do not understand the reviews for this book or the rewards. It's very juvenile writing with description so superfluous it's impossible to tell what is even going on. I see reviews say this is a good thing to focus the reader, but let's be honest with each other - if you don't know what's going on in the book you're reading how is that the readers fault?

This book is a perfect example of something I learned in my first year of creative writing in college Literature is complicated stories that reveal truth told in plain language. Bad writing is over complicated language telling you simple story ideas with nothing to give. Guess which side of the fence this book falls on?

The core ideas of the plot are not brand new. I can name 3 modern science fiction movies that would give you this cobbled together fantasy. At no point was I scared or tense or even anxious. I mostly wanted to get through the book to be done with it because it was a draining read. Not for me.

Thanks to Charlotte at Titan for my #gifted copy and my spot on the tour.

I found the first couple of chapters a little bit slow but when the action starts it is quite surprising it comes from seemingly nothing.

This is quite a wordy book and I found myself skimming parts to get to the actual content of the story. I’m not saying the writing is a bad thing but at the point I was reading this, I was ready for a quick read and the writing felt a bit too much for me.

I can definitely see where the comparison to Stranger Things comes in and think this would make a great Halloween special for TV.

It’s definitely is a great book for the spooky season with its creepy vibes and horror theme so if you are looking for something to hear you up for Halloween then this could be your book!
