Beautiful is the first word that comes to mind. These poems cover the range of emotions with a heavy focus on grief, Black and queer experience, and HIV. Very challenging and emotional but extremely important.

You ever read a book and think "I wish I read this sooner," that was me with this poetry collection. This was so beautiful and heartbreaking.

The significance of the theme of blood was what stood out the most to me. These poems were so powerful, and I really admire how they’re all weaved together. I love the sounds Smith uses; reading certain stanzas that caught my eye was a wonderful experience✨
