I searched GoodReads for a forensics book with good ratings and reviews and was happy when I found this. However, I am really disappointed by the book.
It is written as a narrative and I don't think this really lends itself to this type of book. It doesn't read well.
The book is, essentially, a personal history of people who make up a unit that came together to find ways of discovering bodies 20-odd years ago. Personally, I don't really care about 10 people's education, their childhood etc. I am interested in the cases from start to finish. I'm 25% of the way through this book and the only cases mentioned have been minimal descriptions of them with no real in-depth analysis or story.
The chapters in this book are ridiculously long also. I'm 1/4 of the way through and there have only been 2 chapters.
I don't think I will be continuing with this book. If you like to know the personal history of every single person that is going to be mentioned in this book and like reading about someone going off on a tangent every few pages; then this is for you! Avoid if you actually want to read about cases.

I loved this book. The forensics are fascinating and I love learning how humans use science to answer the tough questions.
definitely written more like a case file than a book, but still incredibly interesting and inspiring. a must-read for any true crime enthusiast

Highly informative collection of true crime stories tied together by a ragtag group of forensics experts with their own specialized skills. Felt like reading about the real-life mystery gang.
