When Dani discovers that her boss is stealing her fashion designs, she quits her job and leaves New York to regroup. She moves in with her brother and his roommates—one of whom is her ex-boyfriend Alex. But as awkward as it is to be with Alex again, he has his own reasons for wanting to expose her boss's crimes. As they plot a wedding dress heist to get back Dani's property, their old feelings return. With Alex's help, can she put her life back together again?

This rom com has an undercurrent of humor throughout, while the tone is heartfelt and emotional. I loved Alex and Dani, as well as the unique secondary characters. The plot is fun and engaging. The audiobook is well done and adds to the enjoyment of the novel. This is my first Jenny Proctor book, but it won't be my last.

Thanks, NetGalley, for the ARC I received. This is my honest and voluntary review.

I really enjoyed this book! It was a fun second chance romance mixed with work drama, sibling reconnection, fashion, and reevaluating life dreams.

The moments between Dani and Alex were so sweet! I would have loved a little more romance throughout the story.

Highly recommend the audio. The Southern accents with the dual narration was perfection!

This was a “listen while multitasking” book for me. It was light and quick, and I didn’t have to give my full attention to it to follow along. It was a standard closed-door, second chance romance.

This is the first book in the series and I really enjoyed it!

Dani is an aspiring fashion designer working for her dream company but not getting the recognition she deserves. Her boss uses Dani’s ideas as her own but promises Dani the moon and stars in the future.

Alex is the step-son of the owner of the company who has never quite fit in. He is an accountant and noticed something fishy going on with the spending accounts.

Alex and Dani dated for a year before Alex just took off one day without explanation. Dani has been heartbroken for months but telling herself she isn’t. Until Alex is back and she runs into him and realizes she never quite got over him. And he realizes the same about her.

This is a second-chance romance with dual perspectives and very mild steam. Both main characters are well written and have real substance in ther personalities and backgrounds. Diverse secondary characters add to the charm. I found myself rooting for Alex and Dani from the beginning.

DNF at 50%

This one started out pretty strong but then it just got flat really quick. I couldn’t connect to Dani, Alex hasn’t done anything for me to like him and… there was barely any connection between them. By 50% they only had one full conversation and two encounters (and they share history so..). It wasn’t even slow burn.

I wanted to like this one especially with the second chance romance element but.. it just lacked. And it wasn’t memorable.
