Trigger Warning; brief mention of SA
⭐️⭐️
Buckle up folks this is going to be a long one, I have a lot of feelings to work through here. I have to give this one 2 stars. I wasn't really sure how I felt about this book until I started writing the review and then I realized I really just didn't like it.
Okay, we'll start with what I liked; The banter between Camilla and Riggs was great. It was very funny and entertaining (when Riggs wasn't being a complete Asshole with a capital A) Watching Camilla become more confident and comfortable in her body after what happened to her was great to see. That... might be about it?
The way Camilla's SA is handled in this book made it feel like it was just apart of the plot in order to give the author more to work with in regards to Cami's plotline. Camilla is repeatedly made fun of for the way she dresses and presents herself. She wears baggy clothing and avoids intention due to her past SA and feeling uncomfortable about her body. She is the butt of several jokes throughout the book about her looks, mainly by her best friends and Riggs and they only feel bad about it once they find out the reason why she dresses that way. It was approached in a way that screamed 'Because my body is hot, I owe it to the world to be showing it off'. Riggs is so incredibly rude in the bar scene when they first meet. He is judgmental about her looks and uses her clear discomfort as a tool to win his dare assigned to him by his immature friends. He is rude, and judgmental and when Camilla confronts him HE NEVER APOLOGIZES? Like, Cami my girl, this man picked you in a bar on a DARE to pick up the girl in the room LEAST likely to be flirted with. He never shows any remorse for it, continues to stand his ground that he and his friends WEREN"T being complete assholes by doing this, and yet you still like him?!?
Riggs as a whole was.. not one of the better book boyfriends I have read. He repeatedly doesn't listen to his race engineer (which is an absolute requirement of an F1 driver?? In his rookie year he ignores direct instruction not once, but TWICE, and is still allowed to drive. HOW?) He doesn't really do anything or make any changes to be deserving of Cami, and when she rightfully puts him in his place after obeying direct orders for a second time, he throws a fit. Now, he gave up his seat in F1 because he refused to tell her dad about her SA before she was ready, which helped him earn back a point or two for me, but Camilla immediately bails him out by telling her dad anyways. As a whole, I don't think Riggs made any character development throughout the book and was repeatedly bailed out by Camilla.
Next; the amount of actual Formula 1 in the book; I can't decide if the author knows a lot about F1 and chose to ignore it, or just Googled really specific things when needed... There was a lot of behind the scenes knowledge used in this book that made the F1 fan in me satisfied. The one thing that really bugged me was the repeated mention of Riggs driving his team car between race weekends, which is NOT allowed! Other than test week, which happens the week before the F1 season starts, there is no outside testing of the cars allowed. This is a very well known rule so I was shocked it was mentioned so many times. The use of the simulator is mentioned a lot, which is correct; drivers use the simulator to train instead of their actual cars, but that one fact bothered the HECK out of me. There was a lot of race time featured in the book, but nothing about the practice sessions and qualifying sessions that happen each weekend so I can't be sure if these 'practice sessions' Riggs was squeezing in were the sanctioned practice sessions, or illegal practice sessions. I give this book a 3/5 race cars for the amount of F1 in the book 🏎🏎🏎
As a whole, this book wasn't great. I don't think Riggs deserved Camilla or to have a seat in F1, Camilla's SA was used as a plot tool and lacked empathy, and all around just missed the mark. The next book in the series has way better reviews so I may read it, but I can't say I will be reaching for it anytime soon.

i love sports romance books.
i love spicy sports romance books even more.
what i like best is formula one romance books with great chemistry and good spice.
i really enjoyed this story tbh. it was a nice feel good read , i finished it realllyyy fast.
sometimes i’ve had trouble with the pacing. I felt like i missed reading a sentence and then it was hard to understand the next paragraph and there was no missed sentence. sometimes it was hard to differentiate past and present and there were so many missed moments that happened out of scene (camilla telling her dad about riggs and the assault for example) and it was never clear for me if riggs really know brandon before or just random.
felt like the author didnt want to tell too much and in the end it turned out not enough.
BUT nonetheless it was a nice read, i wanted to learn more about the characters and read their story more and more. and i will definetely read the rest of the series

Off the Grid is another interesting F1 romance by K. Bromberg. She is becoming my go-to F1 author at this point. This is the first book in the Full Throttle series, following Spencer Riggs and Camilla Moretti. Camilla works for the team that Spencer gets called up to join. Their enemies to lovers, forbidden, steamy, slow-burn romance kept me locked in.
I loved the development of Spencer and Camilla’s relationship. Spencer is not the most likable MMC, but he did prove there is more to him than meets the eye. I loved how he defended Camilla and supported her. There were some super sweet and swoony moments. l loved their chemistry, and their banter was fun. Camilla’s backstory was quite emotional and heartbreaking. I loved how Riggs gave her a safe space to be herself and helped her feel comfortable in her skin.
Narration:
Carly Robins and Shane East can do no wrong in my eyes. They are two of my favorite narrators and did a wonderful job with this fast-paced story. Carly and Shane fully embody the characters and bring them to life.

Me gusto la parte de la formula 1, la relacion de Camila y Riggs no fue tanto el fuerte del libro, creo que le falto quimica o mejorar las bases, pero en todo lo demas estuvo bien escrito, creo que sabe de lo que habla
Should have read the content warnings before I started. I read them after I had only listened to a few minutes and decided I didn’t want to continue.

“We’re a fucked-up pair, but my broken makes you whole. Your broken has made me whole. Now it’s time to let those breaks heal. For the scars to fade like nothing ever was.”

2,5⭐ Poteva essere una bella storia, aveva veramente buone basi peccato che la superficialità nel mettere in pagina ogni cosa ha fatto tutto il resto
