Serafina and the Twisted Staff follows Serafina and Braeden a few weeks after the events of the first book, where they defeated a dark force wreaking havoc on Biltmore Estate. Robert Beatty writes in a way that makes things sound both eerie and beautiful all at once. What else would you want with that setting? Though I thought book one had a strong ending, book two adds to the story without overwhelming it. Serafina has a lot to learn, skills to strengthen, and relationships to build, but through the book she discovers more about her past and she becomes more confident in herself. She quickly notices that something is amiss and strives to solve the problems before they get out of hand! She's a great role model for her target audience of 8-12 year olds.
This book is definitely a fast read!

Pese a los tiempos que corren, aún hay sitio para la magia, el misterio, y ese amor genuino por la naturaleza y los animales.
Que si, que el libro tendrá sus fallos, pero es de esos títulos que me hubiera gustado leer más joven. Lo he disfrutado, pero con menos bagaje a mis espaldas, lo habría hecho aún más.
Si le quito una estrella, es porque, a estas alturas, siempre pido más. Más información acerca de determinadas escenas, que podría haberse mostrado más. Y ciertos fallos que me supongo que serán cosa de la traducción, pero que me han hecho releerme algunos párrafos porque el significado era poco nítido. Quitando eso, una buena lectura, muy recomendable.

Scary and thrilling
I thoroughly enjoyed this second foray into the world of Seraphina and Braedon. There were more twists and turns in this tale and I loved watching Seraphina discover her true self. Well worth reading

good second book, i read this when i was like in 5th or 6th grade but it was great
Another Serafina book! This series follows the adventures and encounters of a girl called Serafina on the Biltmore Estate and the surrounding mountains. Magic, mystery, and craziness follow her and her friends wherever she goes. This is a pretty good middle grade book. What makes this especially appealing to me is the fact that I was able to visit the Biltmore Estate and tour the house quite recently, so all of the history, architecture, and characters are very easy for me to imagine. This book has very good pacing, there is a lot of action, mixed in with the mystery and other parts. The mystery did have me guessing up until nearly the very end, when I was able to figure a couple things out myself. One thing I did not like about this book was that nearly every chapter ended with a cliffhanger. This just felt like a desperate way for the author to keep me reading, which I disliked. The cliffhangers weren't necessary; I would have continued reading anyway. But, overall, besides a couple things it lacked or I disliked, this book was wonderful. I really love Serafina as a character, as well as Braeden, Essie, Waysa, and the others. The plot was strong and the mystery was intense. Overall- a very good book.
When I was a kid I always dreamed of wandering around places like Biltmore, having adventures and discovering hidden rooms and passageways. These books are exactly that, but better. I'm anxious for the third book in this series!
Again, another lovely story about our favorite catamount. I'm so glad that she progressed and found a way to balance both parts of her life. I can't wait to read the next one.
Another great book in the Serafina series. I think I am leaning towards liking this book better than the first, but it is a very close tie. My prediction about Rowena was so right. I thought her father was the bad man of the forest, and I thought she was working alongside him, and that she was the sidekick stalking Biltmore. I WAS SO RIGHT!!!! Ugh, Rowena annoyed the crap out of me. This book was highly enjoyable, and I was happy to see Serafina and Braeden again, and I was also really happy that Braeden wasn't gone for too long.
