I get the idea of the book, but it did have some problematic illustrations - stereotypes for sure.

Great way to start a conversation about what makes a home and why our home is "home".

Gorgeously drawn pictures of real homes from around this world as well as imaginary ones from beyond. The Kindergarten class that I read it to was just starting a unit on design thinking; they were absolutely engaged and entranced. What a beauty!

Beautiful children's book- of what a "home" looks like- different homes for different people, animals, etc. Truly delightful!

Love how this playfully + gently introduces ideas of diversity (we all have a different definition/idea of "home") and how magical these differences can be. Gorgeous illustrations!

I enjoyed the cyclical ending (or beginning) of this book and how Ellis' journey through different homes, imaginary as well as wholly real all blossomed from the artist's studio (final picture). As a debut, I found Ellis' concept of what home means to different people a powerful and thought-provoking discussion. She uses her colours sparingly, browns, greys, greens and reds to great effect as we follow a little bird - a migrator free to travel anywhere - around the world (both real and imaginary) to places we may never visit.

Ho hum. This is definitely a mixed bag. There are some questionable choices with the art. And the writing is repetitive and not all that interesting. I like this best at its most realistic and at its most fictional. I wish that this book had concentrated on those pages and had an afterword. And maybe a mention of homeless and refugees. The art itself was nice but not amazing.

Live on the moon! Live in Atlantis! Live like a babushka! Live like a Japanese businessman! This book is so incredibly wacky but I loved it.
