I had this first book already sitting in my kindle when I stumbled across an ARC of the second, it was the push I needed to read it ASAP. I was so glad I did and then immediately requested this one. I was so sucked into all of the fae nonsense that was goin on!
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

A fantastic sequel to the first book. If the first story was about romantic love, this one was about familial love, and I adored it. I was so very pleasantly surprised by the revelation in the first third of the book, and the ending wrapped up things in both and epic and tidy fashion. I also loved that Prater was able to keep up both plot and romantic tension between Rain and Night even though they were technically together for the entire book.

Alright, this one was definitely better than the last. The world building was well done, great character development, and the author was able to pull you in to what was happening to our MC. This idea of found family is prevalent throughout the book, and I think it’s done so well.

I really enjoyed these two books in this series. The growth of the characters and the bond between made the story really lovely. I also think we could all use a friend like Bernard
I didn't like this one as much because the plot wasn't tight enough for me. I stand by my earlier claim for book 1 that it would be better served as one book with a more coherent villain journey and tighter plot. However, there is lots to like here - the author's version of familiar fae tropes is one of my favorite I've read, the familiars are a delight, and the mechanics of how things work in this world are interesting.
3.5 Getting to the Happily Ever After Stars
After the first book in the series I was eager to jump into the next as the main character was in a precarious position and what looked like certain death. I mean it looked like it but since the second book wasn't 20 pages we all know it wasn't going to happen. But still it left me longing to know what happened next.
This is a fitting conclusion to the love story started in the prior book. Rain will find out the past she left behind and Night will have to deal with who she really is, along with the rest of his court. Rain and Bernard's relationship is one of my favorites in the book as he is so much fun. When he finds out where babies come from it was really priceless.
There are some great twists in the story and I did like how Night finally overcomes his declarations that he will never love Rain. Silly, man there is no denying your fated mate your heart. There are way more sexy times in this conclusion to Rain and Night's story and honestly I could have done without a few of the scenes to get to the fighting for the Realm and Night's claiming of his throne. But other than that a fun story.
I did like that there was no dishonesty between the two. When Rain discovered her past, she told him as soon as possible even through there was some fallout from it. I also loved how she had decided that no matter what he was hers, even if that meant she kidnapped him later. Turnabout is fair play after all.
I will look forward to continuing with some of the other stories in the series.

“My very soul is exposed to you now. That’s worth some trepidation, I think.” He tried to smile to take the edge out of his words, but it didn’t hold.
It’s a lovely soul. But I refuse to be content with just your soul.
Night’s chest tightened. “Greedy,” he teased.
Night, when you’re finally ready to give me your heart, I promise you I’m going to take very good care of it.”

Once again, another solid one from SLP, steadily rising as a new favorite author for me. This one picks up immediately after the cliffhanger of the last, and though I was still a little confused on other characters and story, the beautiful writing and the main characters could never disappoint me. All that really did disappoint was: I wish it had been slightly more epic. I loved the end, but it felt super rushed and I wish the conflict had been a little more throughout instead of just talked about. A slight more bit of drama would have made it everything. I mean there was a Baba Yaga side story and freaking dragons!!... But I still loved it, really loving the romance, and OMG I almost had to stop right in the middle of the grocery store over Bernard…luckily I made it out okay. A lovely end to this story but more that take place in the same world, so on I go!

I really enjoyed this conclusion, though I did wish for more at the end. I wanted to see what happened to Margot and Susan and see more of the kingdom after ridding the world of Yaga and his influence. I think there's potential here for the author to add in some spin off novels for some of the other characters like Isla, Elayna, and Malcolm.
Rain continued to be a strong character who both can handle herself and knows when to ask for help. Bernard was a source of enjoyment, including the difficulty between his fascination with a baby and his abhorrence of how they are made.
Rain getting her memories back included a fun twist I didn't anticipate. I also appreciated how her and Night had to talk things out, the bond didn't erase anything. And she told him up front, she didn't leave it for "the right time". There were a couple other thrown into the mix that kept things interesting and added more threads connecting the characters.
I was kind of expecting the letter Night threw out the window to come back and bite him (as a magical being, why would you rip something like that up instead of burning it in your hand??) and was pleasantly surprised it didn't.
