I really really wanted to like this book but found it lacking. The plot leaves much to be desired and the world building needs more depth. These things could be overlooked if the characters were interesting and complex, but alas, they too are very superficial. This leaves the smut to be the only potential redeeming quality. The smut, to be fair, is pretty good, but I’ve read fics on AO3 that have better detail and writing to them than what’s offered here. The steamy scenes do leave something to be desired after the foreplay. Justice for lesbians who need more than three pumps to get off!!!! Additionally, there’s something to be said for a slow burn and this book has none of that dynamic. It’s just a little much to have characters screwing a couple chapters in before the reader has a chance to even care about them or their relationship.
