I received an ARC of this book through NetGalley in exchange for my unbiased opinion.

After being injured in Afghanistan, Connor and Weston are flown home to Walter Reed Hospital. Connor had surgery on his elbow and is dealing with PTSD; Wes's injuries were more serious. Connor can't bear being around Wes and his family; he breaks up with Autumn and disappears, not telling anyone where he is going. Autumn is devastated but stays by Weston's side, as Connor asked her to do. Connor, however, feels he will only bring her down and forces her to leave him, too. Autumn vows never to settle for a love that is anything less than real or let someone get between her and her goals. Autumn and Wes both need each other, though, and they agree to be friends. Both feel more than friendship, though.

This book was quite different from the first, given that the characters were facing much more serious problems, but all the strong feelings were still there. The plot twists were easy to see coming. Not as strong as the first book in the duology but still really good!

Be still my heart. When true love prevails all else dims in comparison. This boom was truly a emotional rollercoaster. But so worth it. Again Emma did not disappoint. I can’t wait to read Ruby & Conners story.. I love how Wes took his new found disability and made it work for him. Autumn finally got the love she has been searching for in the wrong men. And Ruby well we shall see in the next book.

Much better than book one in my view - gritty writing

What a heart-wrenching book

This was a wonderful conclusion to the first book, with so much strife growing these beloved characters. The anguish, pain, despair, love, hope, anger, joy... All the feels!

Autumn's attempts to keep everything together as it falls apart were ao very fitting for her character. Her relationship with the boys makes this an interesting non-love triangle in ways. The bromance between Conner and Weston is incredibly important, and I love the respect that was given to it.

Every aspect of Weston's new life felt very authentic, without being hamfisted or melodramatic.

Wow. Just....wow.

Calling this book, or duet in general, a rollercoaster ride is a massive understatement.
The amount of pure heart-wrenching emotion emanating from these pages is indescribable. I felt my heart break and fuse back together again over and over as I read, and for the life of me I could not put this book down.

I honestly had quite a few issues with this book plot-wise, but it really didn't make a difference. I'm still giving it 5 stars. It deserves 5 stars. Beautifully written, emotional, unique, and hopeful, this series was everything I needed right now.

This book is perfect, absolutely perfect
