The epistolary opening was VERY fun and might almost have been my favourite part, perhaps a sign that I should be reading a fluffy novel of manners rather than a murder mystery… I liked the mystery in this one (the right amount of clever, I didn’t guess it like in Gaudy Night) and I mostly liked the interpersonal plot line, though I’m a lot more interested in Harriet’s intellectual growth than I am in Peter’s emotional turmoil. It does fall a little bit into that zone of being “about marriage” in ways that I can translate for myself. But I was definitely gripped and I like that Sayers is trying to blend in complexity with the mystery puzzle.
Neck-to-neck with The Nine Tailors as my favorite Sayers novel. I especially enjoy the frequent and fairly intense narration of Harriet's inner adjustments to her changed relationship with Peter- after growing to love both main characters over the course of the novels, it's fascinating to see their frailties and strengths from their own point of view.
I JUST LOVE THIS BOOK...THIS SERIES...PETER WIMSEY. JUST READ IT. DON'T ASK QUESTIONS.
Own and Kindle.
Perhaps my favorite LPW to this point.

I think this may be my favorite Lord Peter book so far. Throughout and especially at the end we get glimpses into his complexity.

A fitting, fun, funny but dark finish to the Wimsey series, in which Peter and Harriet negotiate marriage, and specifically their unique and peculiar marriage.
This was completely useless, and at the end it was so... dumb, they didnt like the murderer before knowing he was the murdered, but once they know they go and try to help? and feel bad??????????????????? The murderer was a useless man who used women and in the end Peter of all people feels bad??? for??? him????????????
besides that, it was full with filler, and overall boring.
