As someone who used to work in a similar environment, I understand where Nicole comes from with having to balance life and work. She’s relatable, but her faults make her a bit unlikable. She doesn’t stick up for herself against her best friends’s wedding party or her coworkers. Her justifications for a promotion are underwhelming.
I do think this book is a good example of our toxic culture to put ourselves last and work first.

This was good. It didn’t feel like a romance but more like a woman discovering there’s more to life than being shrouded by anxiety….which I relate to
Another one where I don't think I'm the right demographic. Also, at a time when work and life ARE stressful, I didn't want to spend time in somebody else's stressful work/life situation.

Overall a nice, easy-to-read story. It was relatively easy to connect with the main character and somewhat predictable how the next chapters would play out.

This was entertaining. Easy read to fly through. Predictable and the main character annoyed me a bit towards the end when I just wanted her to get over herself. But overall it was an easy nice entertaining read.
I probably related to Nicole’s work relationship more than I care to admit
A story about friendship, romance, and balance - and trading external validation for happiness.
The main character, Nicole, is a designer at a software company that expects extreme dedication, and she's finally up for a promotion. Her best friend is getting married, and Nicole is the maid of honor. And she has just met an amazing guy. Fortunately, she's used to living a life that's scheduled down to the minute - but when everyone needs her at exactly the same time, she has to decide what is truly important.
I enjoyed reading this book. The main character felt like a real person, and the secondary characters were well-drawn. The world of the story felt real and three-dimensional, and Nicole's decisions felt appropriately weighty and difficult.
I wasn't crazy about the love story. The connection between Nicole and her new boyfriend seemed very superficial; the two characters had distinct personalities but it wasn't clear to me why they were drawn to each other. However, the book is well-written and engaging throughout, and the ending is both fulfilling and sweet.

Spoiler
The timetable of the story demands that their relationship become very serious within a few months of sporadic dating, and when - four months after their first meeting - he ended their relationship because she wouldn't bail on a major work obligation in favor of his work event, I was really not on his / their side.
My life in a nutshell
Wow. It really seems that I'm being pulled towards books lately that make me question life. This book makes me question my crazy hectic and busy schedule. I loved this book. I loved the outcome, the realizations, the fear, the drive, and the reality. It might be fiction but it's got a real world personable issue at hand: slow down and enjoy life before there's not much more time to.
