i absolutely loved this series when i first read it, but this conclusion had extremely repetitive writing and didn’t spend enough time on the deaths the characters faced. my favourite character died and maybe had two-three paragraphs of impact on the other characters. it’s genuinely very sad that this book ended this way.

What a beautiful end to Keera’s story.
This book was emotional and adventurous and I loved every minute just as much (if not more) than I’ve loved the whole series. I said a beautifully tearful goodbye to these characters and this story, and I can’t wait to continue following Melissa Blair’s author journey.

I have never seen a book with an MF romance so thoroughly disinterested in men and I love that for it.  All of the women are interesting and dynamic and Riven is there.  It's literally the Barbie meme.  As a Gerarda stan I came out winning because she got so much screen time and I really loved her arc and her relationships.  Especially with Keera herself, they have grown so much together.  Gwyn was another highlight with her power and corruption arc, while also feeling triumphant.  Keera can be a bit one note, therapy speaky, and too powerful to the point where the narrative feels a bit silly, at times but it did feel good to see her succeed. It's interesting because she kind of is already self actualized by this point in the narrative so it is mostly outside forces she's fighting against but I think it works, though I did like her journey with her scars.  This book was sad with stakes that felt real without falling into relentless downerism.  And finally I still hate Riven but I find it hilarious how literally he did nothing in this plot besides orgasms.  I don't know why he is there but slay I guess.
