Leverage in Death

J.D. Robb

4.13 AVERAGE

Loved the new story, it was a little more raw that some previous ones, but true to the characters. Eve still has it. I actually loved that there was some conflict between Eve and Rourke. Makes them feel much more real. Looking forward to the next book.

There is a merger happening and the VP of marketing walked in with an explosive vest. Several were killed and many are hurt. Now Dallas must figure out what is going on. But this is only the beginning of connected murders. And on top of that, the book made into a movie about a previous case is up for an Oscar.

LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!!!

JD Robb is a fountain of creativity!!!

JD ROBB is an automatic purchase for me, and to date she has not done wrong.

Eve & Roarke and all other characters were superb. Gotta say I did not guess right AT ALL on who the culprit was (shame on me!!!). Can't wait to read book 48 "Connections In Death".

Found this interesting because really had no idea who the bad guys were until 80% of way thru book.
Liked getting a little more of Trueheart and Baxter

The 47th (58th if you count the half-numbered novellas) book in the In Death series starts off with a bang. Literally. A bomb explodes in the middle of a company meeting claiming 12 lives. From there, it's a nonstop race for Lieutenant Eve Dallas and her cadre of dedicated New York City homicide cops to find the bomber before more lives are lost.

What follows is, of course, your standard murder mystery; but having read 58 books in this series, you know it's not the reason I'm here. No. The reason I keep reading, and will until the inevitable end, is the character development. Eve, Roarke, Peabody and the rest are all characters that I've come to know and love and this book further cements why. The constant growth from them all, especially Eve - the main character - is exactly what keeps the series fresh. The friendships, the marriage, the romances - everything is constantly evolving and getting better. It's one of JD Robb's (Nora Roberts) finest talents, truly. She makes her characters real people that you are happy to go on an adventure with. The tears, the laughter, the anger, every emotion is designed with the reader in mind and that's what I love about these books. I can read a mystery anywhere; but characters I want to spend time with, that's what keeps me here.

It also doesn't hurt that Roarke is a smokin' hot brilliant billionaire. ;)

I have been trying to catch up on the In Death series, but with the more recent books I find I can't remember if I've read them. I re-read this one as a result—so it was good enough to re-read, but not good enough for me to remember having read it until I was partway  in.

JD Robb has written almost 50 books in this series! Some of them are better than others; this one is in the top half.

In Leverage in Death, once again Dallas's police case crosses paths with a building that Roarke owns. But instead of it being a major plot point, it is the vehicle to introduce us to two characters who I hope will show up in the future. Regular secondary characters make an appearance that are not forced but blend naturally into the story.

I love all the ". . . In Death" books, but this one was excellent. I loved the addition of the "Oscars". Great story as per usual!

I really enjoyed this entry in the series. I was good to see Roarke and Eve get into it and work through it. They have grown so much, especially Eve, over the series. It was an interesting story. It was also good to see so many of the secondary characters that we love. I especially enjoyed Eve and Bella together. It seems that she and Summerset have dealt with one of their issues. I think that what I loved most about the book, and there was a lot, was the epilogue. I'm so glad that we got to see that part of the story. The author kept true to all of the characters as always.

This story is as good as usual. And that's too bad. While the mysteries are entertaining, there hasn't been any character development in several books now. Time to give this series a rest.
