I was pleasantly surprised by this book and am glad I picked it up!
I was lucky enough to be able to read it in one sitting.

A rather toxic but steaming romance. The šŸŒ¶ļøšŸŒ¶ļøšŸŒ¶ļø was hotter than I thought it would be šŸ˜…; make of that what you will. I must hereby confess that romance novels are generally not my thing but this was a relatively quick read on a few hot summer days and I can see why it’s so popular. Not a huge fan of all the pop culture references and borderline product placement, but this is reconciled with other beautifully written passages.
Had to laugh really hard at the ā€œstop writing about meā€ and ā€œyou firstā€ part;
I really liked that they were both authors and we got a peek into the behind-the-scenes of the literary world that way.

Okay, this is my sign to just read the books that I can't decide if I want to read or not.

This is how you write second chance romance!! With a good past/present story! And a valid reason for breaking up in the first place! And for why they should be back together! And, of course, undeniable chemistry!

I love that the story has more to it than the romance and that the characters have depth. They are sooo drawn to each other, but they are their own people.

So much representation in one book, but always handled with tact.

There were parts I really enjoyed but there were more I didn’t. I don’t really see their connection outside of trauma and ***? The side stories also felt a bit out of place.

Also Audre… does this sound like a 12 year old?

ā€œ... But give him a chance. He's a good person. I know he is, and I'm an incredible judge of character. You push stuff away that isn't safe and obvious…but love isn't safe and obvious. Love is risky. Take the risk, woman."
