The romance was very passionate but imperfect. The characters' pasts and their toxic coping mechanisms make their relationship feel gritty and real, but they have so much love for each other. The two main characters have great chemistry.
I love when characters have great growth in a book, and these two certainly do, especially Eva. I would recommend this book to anyone who has struggled with chronic illness or a difficult childhood.

I enjoyed this book but I found I started to get a little bit bored by the end. I’m not sure if this is because I listened to the audiobook, which is a format I’m still getting used to, or if the book was just a bit too long for the story. I thought the narrator, Mela Lee, did a great job of portraying the characters though, and I did feel engaged and invested in them earlier in the story, but I just felt it started to meander a little in the end.
The characters were really interesting and I loved the personality and dynamic contrasts between Eva, Audrey and Lisette - especially Audrey who added a fun, sarcastic edge to the story. I also thought the flashbacks and back stories of Eva and Shane were intriguing, despite very sad, and I enjoyed learning about their early relationship. Lisette was an infuriating character, and I felt a lot of empathy for Eva throughout.
Overall, an enjoyable read with engaging characters, but not one I’d rush to re-read.

Girls are given the weight of the world, but nowhere to put it down.
Long ago, she’d learned that life could be bitterly disappointing if allowed. There were blows and stumbles, but your job was to stay interested in the world.

This story was well written and completely immersive.
This is a multi-layered love story with every POV having a distinct purpose and so well placed, as much as, paced throughout the over arching story.
The plots grabbed you at the heart and at some point, like with any great love, as a reader, all sense of logic is lost and your heart and gut are feeling what the characters feel.
The flash backs are also well placed, giving you as much as you need to quench the thirst to know “why?” between narratives until the author and the characters are ready to fully pull you into their thread on the wheel of time.
