Wow. Is all I can say. Yeonmi is truly inspiring. I thought the book was well done. She got her point across without going into excruciating detail, which I can appreciate. I can’t imagine surviving through and enduring the trauma that her and her family went through and it’s beyond wild reading through this book knowing that she is several months younger than me. It’s truly eye opening to read and compare what I was doing as a 13 yo to what Yeomni was doing/surviving through. I definitely would recommend this book to someone.

Was the book moving? Sure. Is it true? Sounds like probably not totally. But also go check out her social media or what she is doing currently. So gross and completely takes away from pretty much any good feels you may have at the end of the book.
When a book puts you in someone else's shoes, and leaves you evolved into someone who is more empathetic, this is the book.
Its a really inspiring book, it made me experience a lot of different feelings while I was reading it. In my opinion it would be important for everyone to know, what people from North-Korea have to go on!
