I enjoyed the story. I was frustrated by the will they or won’t they moment in the third act. However, I understood Archer’s and Serenity’s hesitance to proceed given the return of Tyra. It’s an understandable roadblock. But I’m glad Serenity and Archer got their HEA. There are some things I wished the author included. I would have liked a back story with Serenity’s parents, especially her mom since she was so anti-art. I also would have liked Serenity to have expanded friend group. She felt isolated due to the dark clouds hanging over her relationships with Theo and Tyra. I wish she had someone to vent to about her internal conflict. With that said, I look forward to reading other books by this author.

Catharina Maura’s “Mine for a Moment” is a masterclass in high-angst, slow-burn romance that left me breathless and utterly invested from the first page to the last. As my 36th book of the year and a highlight of our January 2025 Spicy Travel Book Club, this standalone spin-off from the Windsors series delivers everything I crave in contemporary romance: sizzling chemistry, emotional depth, and characters you can’t help but root for.
Archer Harrison and Serenity Adesina are unforgettable leads. Serenity, an artist with a heart full of longing, and Archer, her brother’s billionaire best friend and her emotionally unavailable boss, ignite the page with their forbidden connection. The premise of the story is a secret, no-strings-attached relationship in exchange for a painting. This sets the stage for a deliciously tense and passionate journey for them two. Every interaction between them is charged with yearning and vulnerability, making their eventual surrender to love all the more satisfying.
What sets this book apart is Maura’s ability to blend spice with genuine emotional stakes. The angst is palpable, with the “right person, wrong time” trope executed to perfection. The longing and missed opportunities between Archer and Serenity are heart-wrenching, and their sacrifices for each other add layers of complexity to their romance.
Maura’s writing shines brightest in the raw, honest moments that reveal the depth of Archer and Serenity’s connection.
“Mine for a Moment” is a must-read for anyone who loves:
- High-angst, forbidden love stories
- Slow-burn romance with real chemistry
- Art-themed narratives and travel escapism
- Complex family and workplace dynamics
This book is spicy, heartfelt, and beautifully written—a testament to Catharina Maura’s talent and a standout addition to the contemporary romance genre. I finished it feeling emotionally fulfilled and eager for more from this author. Five stars, hands down—this is a romance you’ll want to savor and revisit. Definitely pick up the rest of her books, you won’t be disappointed
I really enjoyed this sweet story of finding the love you’d never have with the most unexpected person. Serenity had such a big heart and her grace in putting other’s happiness before her own was touching. I wish we gotten more of a finality to her relationship with Theo and Kristen, but it was backed full of other heartfelt and steamy moments.
