I love how everybody takes a different message from this book. Some people see it as enlightening, others don't understand why anyone would care for it. I personally found the state of being a giant beetle a metaphor for some sort of disability, and I found this novella to be a critic on the unapologeticalness of capitalism as well. Gregor Samsa could have lived a happy and successful life in a society of giant beetles that's optmized for giant beetle living, but he instead has to live in a world of humans, and he dies and instantly becomes forgotten because of it. It shows how even the slightest lacks of empathy can lead to giant disasters, and even the closest people in your life will abandon you as soon as you stop becoming useful to them.

This was definitely a very unique read, but I enjoyed it!! As others have said, reading this does feel like you're in a fever dream of some sort. Gregor's family's reactions were realistic and relatable, even in such an absurd situation. It's so weird to me how something as bizarre as waking up as an insect can be portrayed in a way that appears so incredibly lifelike

The Metamorphosis itself was truly thought provoking and now, after having read and processed my thoughts surrounding it, I am finding myself getting so emotional at the story and the different ways you can interpret it.

Kafka’s writing is so intriguing and there were some beautiful lines and passages in this book but overall there were also passages I found myself just skimming over.
