I absolutely LOVED this story!

First off, I didn’t realize that this book was apart of a giant series where the characters and places were all connected. I think that reading some other books from the series would have helped to tie parts together, but this book definitely could have been read alone. I found the stories in this book to be a home coming. A tragedy that still somehow brings people together for the better is always a little heart warming. The one thing that I did struggle with, is that there was a lot of religious references that I did tend to glaze over. As someone who isn’t religious it tended to seem a little preachy, but I understand that this is the MO of the author. Either way, it was definitely an okay book for me, but I’m sure that others have really fallen in love with it.

This book is just a Hallmark movie with more religious undertones and unnecessarily sexy characters. It's mildly entertaining, has a feel good ending, but is entirely predictable and cheesy. There were a few too many cringe worthy descriptions of male characters for my liking and a surprising number of typos/grammar errors. I heard some describe this as a "guilty pleasure" book but I think there has to be actual pleasure involved to fit that description.

I love Karen Kingsbury books but I can’t get over how everything always works out. I know she’s had some deaths in some books, but this book was too perfect. Everything worked itself out way too easily.

** Spoilers**

I don’t buy that a rather large fight between Ashley and Landon would work itself out without much effort. There was 2 saplings just magically at the tree when they needed them? Jenna can just agree to marry Brady just like that.

I’m sorry but there needed more realism here for me.

It took me a little while to get really into the book, but I am glad I read it! It is a very touching story! The descriptions are great and the characters are good also!

I enjoyed this book. I think I just love Karen Kingsbury as an author.

Oh goodness. I keep wanting to love Karen Kingsbury latest works.....but there is always something that bugs me. Perhaps it is the now obvious endings we will get (think saccharine Hallmark). Maybe it's the "pray and/or have an interaction with an angel and everything will be alright." Maybe it's the emphasis on Ashley Blake.....and how it ALWAYS is about Ashley. I like that character, I do...yet we do have other Baxter family members we could have as the protagonist.

I did love Amy, the little niece and daughter of Erin. Her sweetness, her innocence, her childlike faith. That was one of the bright spots in "To the Moon and Back." I did love all of the attention and detail to OKC's bombing. I was also five years old so I don't remember anything about that event.....I found myself wanting to look things up and learn more.

The message of the book was a good one. I like this quote "The reason a tree survives the storms of any season is because its branches bend in the wind. Otherwise it would blow over and die....Whenever God's spirit might to her (Erin) or lead her in a certain direction, whatever He whispered for her to do or not do....she wanted to be sensitive." May the same be said of me.

So yes, I'll keep reading Kingsbury's books because I can't stay away. But I do wish she felt it okay to leave characters broken sometimes. Because we are human.Even with Christ, we don't always get a happy ending.

Well written, but nowhere does this book allude to the amount of religion it entails. The entirety of the plot is rooted in faith. Even as someone religious, it was a little much.

Karen Kingsbury just gets better with every book. To the Moon and Back is a story of survivors, specifically in this case of the Oklahoma City building bombing in 1995, but also how we are all survivors of life because we have hope through Jesus. Yes, at times it’s a little preachy, and a little cheesy, but the story is so good and there’s the Baxter family in the mix. And, I love the Baxter family.
