I love Karen Kingsbury books but I can’t get over how everything always works out. I know she’s had some deaths in some books, but this book was too perfect. Everything worked itself out way too easily.

** Spoilers**

I don’t buy that a rather large fight between Ashley and Landon would work itself out without much effort. There was 2 saplings just magically at the tree when they needed them? Jenna can just agree to marry Brady just like that.

I’m sorry but there needed more realism here for me.

I loved this book so much! No one writes the way Karen Kingsbury writes. I swear I can visualize each scene in her books and you do really feel like you know the characters in her books. I liked the message of this book God will bring about healing even in the wake of a tragedy and loss and death! I loved the relationship between Jenna and Brady. I loved getting to witness the growth of Brady! 5 stars such a good book about forgiveness and being a survivor of such horrific tragedies. I would definitely recommend this book! Karen Kingsbury never dissapoints.

To the Moon and Back by Karen Kingsberry

Brady Bradshaw was a child when the Oklahoma City bombing killed his mother. Every year, Brady visits the memorial site on the anniversary to remember her. A decade ago on that day, he met Jenna Phillips, who was also a child when her parents were killed in the attack. Brady and Jenna shared a deep heart connection and a single beautiful day together at the memorial. But after that, Brady never saw Jenna again. Every year when he returns, he leaves a note for her in hopes that he might find her again.

This year, Ashley Baxter Blake and her sister Kari Ryan and their families take a spring break trip that includes a visit to the site to see the memorial’s famous Survivor Tree. Ashley’s family is skeptical, but she pushes them to support her efforts to find the girl and bring them together. But will it work? Will her husband, Landon, understand her intentions? And is a shared heartache enough reason to fall in love? - from the Publisher

I received an ARC ebook from the publisher, Howard books in exchange for an honest review.

This review is merely for my own benefit; if others gain anything from it, more power to them.

KK’s books have been a part of my life since I was twelve. As such, I’ve looked forward to each one since then. This one comes on the heels of what was a forced “God’s Not Dead” copy.

The storylines were {mostly} believable. What I didn’t care for was 1) everyone sure Ashley was going to end up cheating, 2) the use of “terrorist” instead of “terrorists”, 3) Jenna immediately accepting Brady’s proposal {after he’d only been a Christian for a couple days}, and 4) the angel interaction*.

I did appreciate connecting Amy’s story to other survivors’ stories, as well as learning more about the bombing.

A) there were 2 terrorists involved in actually building the bomb, and 4 knew of its existence, though it was only one who drove the truck.
B) how did she know he was a Christian for real when she didn’t even know it with her husband who she dated for 6 months? Also, {unpopular opinion} she shouldn’t have married him anyway. {Luke 16:18}
C) I am fully aware that we entertain angels unaware {Hebrews 13:2}, but, those angels don’t go around giving away information to expose their true nature.

Why 4 stars?
1. I finished it.
2. It’s written by an author I like
3. Appeared to be well researched.
4. I liked it.

Missing star?
1. I liked it a lot.

How am I the only one who got tired of rolling my eyes while trying to read this book? He spent how many years searching for Jenna and never thought to look at news articles or obituaries to find next of kin info so he could find her last name? In this day and age it was so unbelievable. I thought of it as soon as the problem presented itself.

Tearjerker

I love this book. I shed many tears while reading this book. The story hit close to home with me and losing a parent. You will not be disappointed.

I love a love story and this was certainly one that tugged on my heart strings.
I was fully immersed in the characters of Brady, Jenna and Amy, however, I felt Ashley was a little annoying - Also, though a petty remark to make - I didn't get on with the name Landon, I also found this annoying!
Although I enjoyed the storyline, even if a bit far fetched, I found the ending to be a little cheesy (most probably due to not being a believer in God myself!).

First off, I didn’t realize that this book was apart of a giant series where the characters and places were all connected. I think that reading some other books from the series would have helped to tie parts together, but this book definitely could have been read alone. I found the stories in this book to be a home coming. A tragedy that still somehow brings people together for the better is always a little heart warming. The one thing that I did struggle with, is that there was a lot of religious references that I did tend to glaze over. As someone who isn’t religious it tended to seem a little preachy, but I understand that this is the MO of the author. Either way, it was definitely an okay book for me, but I’m sure that others have really fallen in love with it.
