The third book of Before The Coffee Gets Cold series is set in a different city and different cafe from the first two books. Who would’ve known there would be another time-traveling cafe in Hakodate (my favourite city in Japan, so double win!)?
This book shows 15 years had passed since the 2nd book. Nagare and Kazu (and her 7-year-old daughter, Sachi) moved to Hakodate from Tokyo when Nagare’s mother who managed Donna Donna, the time-travelling cafe in Hakodate, went off to America for a quest.
Despite being the third installation, the series remains heartwarming. Some may feel it’s being repetitive but I read each with months (or years) gap in between so it didn’t feel as boring. Although it seems to be a cycle for this book — those who travelled back in time are those who want to meet the dead, and those who travelled to the future know they’re going to die.
I would recommend against reading this series back-to-back because it would feel like a chore. Otherwise, it’s a good read, for us to reflect on our lives.

This series is so heartbreaking but wholesome! I can’t explain it honestly. They’re so sad but somehow bring you comfort and warmth by the end, it makes me feel all different kinds of emotions. I have enjoyed every one of the books so far in this series and this one is no exception! Perfect to read in the colder, cosier months. I’ll always recommend these books!
