Sweet

The book is good. I enjoyed it. It was an interesting plot that played out well. However, it needs a re-edit. Stupid things that the editor should have caught distracted me.

I’m in between 3-4 stars. It was good, there was a lot to take in, the second half definitly bypassed the first, and I liked all the side characters. Paige nailed the smartassness and I liked how good she was with the kids, Cara and Jordy. Cam, even with his grumpiness was very sweet and caring and I loved how he “dad”. But Paige forgave way too easily and Cam made a few stupid decisions! They moved way too fast though. Bekki with an I, I hated her. Brian’s obsession was obvious from the beginning but didn’t expect such an intense turn at the end. But both scenarios felt realistic and unfortunate. Loved both the Caprino and Montgomery families. Stalkers, divorced father, crazy ex, protective family. An easy read and I liked all the twist. Will deff be reading more by this author

Ok, this is 100% a me problem, but when describing a man’s facial hair in a book, it cannot be anything but clean shaven, scruff, or a real beard. Anything else and my brain is like no he’s a tv villain, or a dirt bag. Cam has a goatee, and in real life men with goatees are fine, I mean personally it isn’t my favorite form of facial hair, but it’s not terrible. In a book though? No. I can’t do it. I think I also just don’t like the word, and it was said sooo many times!! 50 to be exact, and that is way more times than a word like that needs to be used. It doesn’t help that Cam is also constantly in athletic gear, and I know this means shorts and a tee shirt, but throw in the word goatee and I’m picturing the matching track suits of some bad guys in a Guy Richie movie. Totally a me problem though. So if you don’t mind that word being said 50 times, and also Cam being blonde, this won’t be so bad. I really like Asher’s writing style, and this plot, while predictable, was fun. Paige was awesome, and her relationship with Cam’s kids was so sweet. Jordy’s protectiveness was adorable. Most of my complaints lie with Cam. The way he talks about his ex wife is not great. I mean he’s not wrong, she’s terrible, but it could have been approached differently. He’s also full of red flags that honestly wouldn’t even work in a darker romance novel for me. He’s controlling, and has some anger issues that are not attractive. Maybe I’d be more forgiving if he had a different kind of facial hair though lol.

The amount this girl said no and the mmc just did what he wanted or what he "thought" she wanted was wild. And the fact that whenever his ex-wife was mentioned it was always his "bitch" ex-wife. Like yes she was horrible but damn. No chemistry between characters.

Omg it was soooooo long. Stretched out. Characters were not as flushed out as they could have been for how long the book was. Ugh. Bleh.

  • MMC a dick so, of course, the FMC is obsessed
  • Just waiting for a book where the FMC has even a scrap of self-worth/respect and develops feelings for the MMC when he actually shows at least one characteristic worthy of obsessing over

This book was the sweetest love story and had the possessive alpha that I love and the innocent girl that he protects. Cam is the hot single dad and the way he looks after Paige and his kids make me want that with my future spouse!
