I enjoyed the book but never like it when 90% of the book is build up or backstory then everything gets resolved in the one last chapter.  Felt rushed at the end.

Finished this book so I could get to 50 books this year but it was not very good. I will say the second half was much better than the first but it still gave the bare minimum.

I enjoyed this book, loved the connections it made at the end of the book.

"Lucky" by Marissa Stapley is a captivating tale that centers around a woman named Lucky, whose name ironically reflects her complicated relationship with fortune. Far from being the embodiment of luck, she is a skilled con artist who navigates life by creating her own opportunities while simultaneously falling victim to a long con herself.

The narrative intricately weaves together themes of deception, self-discovery, and the quest for redemption. As Lucky employs her cunning to survive and thrive, readers witness her struggles and vulnerabilities, which reveal the depth of her character. The dual timelines allow us to explore not only her present challenges but also the formative experiences that shaped her into the person she is today.

Stapley's writing shines through its vivid imagery and emotional resonance, drawing readers into Lucky's tumultuous world. The exploration of fate versus personal agency adds layers to the story as Lucky learns that true luck isn't just about chance—it's about taking control of one's destiny amidst chaos.

Overall, "Lucky" offers an engaging mix of suspense and introspection, making it a compelling read for fans of contemporary fiction who appreciate complex characters and intricate plots. A surprising but well-deserved 4 stars!

I hate when authors spend a bunch of time building characters and taking you on a complex journey and then try and wrap everything up in the last 20 pages. It seemed like such a rushed ending.

I wanted a better ending/conclusion with her childhood friend... seemed like a loose end to me even though it seemed maybe the author tried/thought she was tying it up.

While I appreciate that many books are a work of imagination, there were just too many unbelievable elements for a book that seemed like it was supposed to be rooted in reality for it to be even semi-believable.
