A pretty amusing autobiography from Eric Idle. He’s pretty funny and had a full life being part of Monty Python and beyond. The only downside about the book is his terrible name dropping. “I went to Jamaica with George Harrison and we saw Ian Fleming’s home Goldeneye. Later we had drinks with Mick and Keith.” (This is not an actual quote, but it feels quite accurate.)
His main theory is the English-speaking children of WW2 all share a common experience which is why they’re all good and interesting people.
Ok boomer.

Read by Eric himself. Some jokes, some funny, and a lot of showing of a celebrity-filled life.
A funny and clever performer - I've always enjoyed his work, but, what a twat! Not everyone waits until they are in their thirties before working out a few decent values!
Listened to this on a long road trip as a fun romp through Idle's life and career, particularly Monty Python's history and beyond. Read by Idle, his cheekiness and intelligence shines through, particularly in fun little asides with Michael Palin (only one or two; it's not a full-on comedy routine). The name-dropping of famous friends and fabulous locations starts to get a little tiresome, though Idle makes fun of that, too, realizing it's kind of obnoxious but trying to show that celebrities are ordinary people, and he's just telling it as it is. Yacht trips with David Bowie and private islands with Mick Jagger and parties at George Harrison's mansion and all.
Some solidly funny bits, LOTS of name dropping, and overall too specific for a casual fan of Monty Python. I didn't know a lot of things he was referencing. Good accents though! Fun to listen to as an audiobook.
Funny memoir! It's cool to hear some of those early (and funny) stories around Eric & Monty Python. Eric doing the narration (expressions & singing) made it go thru the roof!
