As the author says, this is a dark fantasy, emphasis on dark. However, the sexy scenes were not what got me, it was the portrayal of violence and the characters inner monologues that creeped me out a bit. Not a huge fan, but it is well written, descriptive with a well paced plot.

Solid start

At first I was kind of bummed that this isn't RH but I quickly got over it.

This was we'll written and we'll exceuted. The authors did a good job with the world building. It was written beautifully and we'll rounded. I enjoyed the way the characters where written. We were able to get in inside into who they are but yeh author managed keep the most of who they are a mystery.

I like how the plot was executed. The built this world that seems vast and full of surprises. I'm excited to see the combination of their powers at work.

The best part was the writing. The authors managed to combine mystery and humour without being over the top or sounding juvenile. I also really liked the quoted at the beginning of each chapter as though we get more insight into the characters. I also like how those quotes were not used as dialouge.

Solid start and I'm excited to see where things are going.

This was not bad. It was fast-paced in that I didn't realize I was at the end of the book until I got there. And the characters, they're unique and I want to know them. I am going to read the next book, I do see a lot of potential. It's just that I feel like this could have been a stronger book in terms of relationship-building and even plot.

The characters are so dark. They have really interesting back stories that I just know will be awesome, but they're all so cagey about answering questions that we don't really get to learn much about them or dwell on the traits or qualities they cultivated through their experiences. Because there wasn't a lot of personality given to them, it's hard to find redeeming qualities so the darkness of their characters is really strong. I don't dislike them, I just hope the next book focuses more on them as people and they open up more so we get to see more than just one side of them.

There is definitely that enemies-to-lovers tension, but surprisingly, it is pretty slow burn. I was expecting more, but I'm not complaining. I think it will be good in the upcoming books since there's 5 in the series, it'll be good to foster it slowly.

The plot is a bit obscure because, again, the characters are very tight-lipped. Even the revelation of certain goals and characters, in other books, they would be a big moments, but because everyone is so tightly wound, I feel like it wasn't as hyped as it should have been. That's where we also miss the characters' personalities since they don't really emote. There were a few scenes that were a little soft, but not enough for me to feel like I understand the characters.

I do have a feeling the next books will be better so we shall see!

This was action-packed. Held my attention. Started and finished it in one sitting. Didn't even realize I needed answers like I needed air. It's a slow burn, and there is something between the two main characters. 🤤👌🔥 well done. I will be reading the 2nd book.
