Sinceramente sono un po’ delusa: SEP è una delle mie autrici romance preferite, però questo libro l’ho trovato un po’ sottotono.
La storia è carina e i personaggi sono ok, però i protagonisti si sono innamorati subito e ho trovato il “mistero” un po’ cringe. Ok che non pensavo fossero quelli i colpevoli, però mamma mia…sarebbe stato meglio evitarlo.
Il libro è scritto bene come sempre, ma a tratti l’ho trovato noioso e le interazioni tra Thad e Liv mi sono sembrate un po’ forzate, una coppia con 0 chimica.
Mi è piaciuto molto il finale però, l’ho trovato adorabile e mi ha fatto sorridere. Spero SEP decida di scrivere un altro libro sui chicago stars perché, sebbene questo non rientri tra i miei preferiti, leggerei sicuramente qualcos’altro ambientato in questo mondo!

The love story aspect was pretty predictable, but the mystery and crime portions were great and I didn’t see the outcome of that coming. Although I knew they’d end up together in the end, there were a lot of aspects of their relationship that I enjoyed and that small twist at the end was a surprise I didn’t see coming. I read this as a palette cleanser after a horror book and I’d say it did a really good job at that. I expected it to be a guilty pleasure read, some smut, trash tv kind of read, but I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. Thad Owens is definitely a man written by a woman, and I was not mad about it one bit.

it’s a romance book with a big mystery tied throughout. although i despised the “ending,” the build up was good. i felt like the ending was rushed somehow, even though the book itself felt slow at times. i liked the main characters for the most part, but there were cringy aspects (him calling her “diva every five seconds, her overdramatization at times etc)
