What a fun and emotional return to Phillips Chicago Stars series! This has been one of my all time favorite series and I was excited to revisit this world. Chicago Stars second string quarterback, Thaddeus Walker Bowman Owens and one of the world’s greatest opera singers, and major diva, Olivia Shore, are thrown together on a tour to promote a line of high end watches. They did not like each other at first, despite being attracted to each other. After a few awkward and hilarious encounters, they soon learn to respect each other. Their attraction grows and so does their chemistry, but because of previous heartbreak, they try to keep their distance. As they spend more time together, it becomes impossible to ignore their feelings, and agree to a no strings affair towards the end of the tour. When strange, and dangerous events start happening, Thad's protective instincts kick in, and he will do whatever it takes to protect Olivia. As the walls come down, they begin to want more, but can two passionate people, who want to be the best in their demanding careers, be happy being second place to the other? I really liked both Olivia, and Thad, the way they challenged each other, making each other stronger, and their slow burn chemistry was palpable. I had fun revisiting this world that I have always loved so much, as well as learning a bit about opera. This fun, heartfelt, suspenseful, and steamy story is a great addition to this series.

I love all of her books

Phillips puts her best foot forward when she speaks to the heart. When the Stars collide is a conversation with the heart. Olivia and Thad are a mystery that really shouldn't work, yet they are at their best when they are being their worst. From intriguing to dramatic, Phillips sets off sparks with an uproar that deserves a standing ovation.

Cancel your weekend plans and put on a pot of coffee this is going to be quick. I know very little of opera and a causal football fan but it is the characters in this book the really shine

So fun. One of my favorites. The opera details were a very interesting addition. I learned so much!

Fun read! Enjoyed how the author mixed sports, music, mystery and romance.

Scribd audio. A fun series. I recommend for fans of Sally Thorne’s The Hating Game. Less sex (closed door) in these, but more narrative and plot. You do not need to read the series in order.

When Stars Collide is the latest entry in the Chicago Stars series from Susan Elizabeth Phillips. Olivia Shore is an opera star, and is paired up with NFL backup quarterback Thad Owens during a merchandise promotion tour. They’re each a “star” in their own field, so naturally their egos collide. SEP books always bring the witty banter, and this has some good scenes. There’s a bit of mystery and suspense thrown in for good measure, and some cameo appearances from other characters in the series.

The story shines with just the two main characters, but the plot points left a lot to be desired. (And some plot points were just left out completely.) Olivia has a lot on her plate - she might have a stalker, someone’s sending threatening notes, and she’s so stressed out she’s losing her voice. Are these connected? You’d think she’d want to find out, but she just barrels on through like nothing’s going on. Until Thad finds out about it, and then he … also does nothing. Two superstars have no personal security? Or even think about it?

There were a couple of reveals that could have come earlier in the book to help the plot make sense. And the couple had to do a traditional break-up/time apart scene at the end that didn’t seem to make sense for their characters.
