It was an interesting read. You certainly dont read about opera singers everyday. The mystery part of the book bored me a bit but it was still a quick and sweet read.

it was okay, but not exactly what i hoped it would be. And not memorable enough, like most of SEP’s books :(

This new novel in the Chicago Stars series is as much mystery/suspense as it is a romance. I enjoyed it, but it took a while for me to like Olivia. So I ended up not being quite as invested in Thad/Olivia as I normally am with SEP couples.

I experienced roller coaster of emotion while reading this novel, I became confused and detached emotionally in the post-conflict part because I couldn't understamd why the two main caharacters weren't together anymore. It turned out to be a miscommunication issue, which explained why I was confused. While I've never been a fan of miscommunication trope and it made me uncomfortable for sometime during reading this novel, SEP managed to turn my opinion around with her incredibly funny reconciliation scene, I laughed out loud and that saved the book from a four-star rating. While it didn't match my love for Kiss An Angel, I still like this book enough to recommend this to all romance novel enthusiast!!

I remember that I liked many of the previous books in this series, so this latest one was on my list for a long time. Sadly, I was quite underwhelmed by this plot. Too many false friends and intrigue and the last bit so far fetched. Neither did I really buy into the attraction between these two. I skimmed through the last third or more just to get it over with (25th August 2024)

I would actually rate it more like a 2.5, which I hate to do because I have really enjoyed this author’s books in the past. I listened to it on audio and I think the narrator didn’t do it for me. She sounded much older than I thought the characters really were and so some of their behavior seemed super childish. I’ll still continue to give SEP books a read.
Dialogue was stilted, setup a tough sell for me. Not for me. DNF.
