Susan is hands-down my favorite author, but I have struggled with her books since the book about blue and blue. Natural born charmer.
As good as they are, they’ve become more introspective than comedic these days. Perhaps that is because of where the author is in her life. Not certain. The characters are still interesting, but they don’t pull me in in the same amazing way that they used to. Still, I will never hesitate to pick up one of her books and read it.
Also, if you like opera, which I do, this is a great read.

It's just so cringy and i would have sworn written by a man. Not worth my limited free time :,)

Cute and fun read. Read for a book club I might go to- although being a classic rom com I’m not sure how much there will be to discuss. Even though I knew the characters would end up together I liked the building of the backstory (what each of them were hiding) and the story felt fresh. I liked the ambition of each character- even though they magically fell in love in 3 weeks they felt like real people

Way to bring the laughs. Nicely done Miss Phillips

This ninth book in Susan Eliz. Phillips' Chicago Stars started out great. I loved the two lead characters - Thad and Olivia - and especially the heroine's occupation & how much effort was spent in making the opera world a real part of the story. I also appreciated the heroine's psychological struggles & how the romance between the two leads grew through respect for each other. This isn't a rom-com as is some of the others in the series, but more of a mystery/romantic-suspense. The suspense part was fine until the last 15 to 20% of the book where the action was a bit over the top. Everyone in this woman's world was after her! Plus, even though I realize this is fiction, the derring-do at the end was unbelievable.

I won this book as a FirstRead.

Thad Owens, backup quarterback for the Chicago Suns, and Olivia Shore, international opera superstar, are not looking forward to spending a month traveling together to promote Marchand Watches across the country. They verbally spar with each other, but when Liv received threatening mail, Thad does everything in his power to keep her safe.

This is the ninth book of a series about the Chicago Stars, a fictional NFL team, but it can be easily read as a standalone. I liked the first four-fifths of this book better than the ending. I will assume that most of Phillips's books don't have this particular kind of ending, though, so I am interested in reading more of this series.

Very very good! Come with SEP signature humor added with a refreshingly smart, strong & bold heroine! Loved this so much with its amazing twists i couldnt predict.
